On March 15, the YSR Congress Party MP informed the Lok Sabha Secretary-General in a letter that his party would be moving a motion on 'No-Confidence in the Council of Ministers' in the lower of Parliament the following day.

The Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP had also moved a no-confidence motion against the NDA in the Lok Sabha.

The no-confidence motions are the first in the nearly four-year rule of the BJP-led NDA alliance.

The parties moved the motion over their demand of special status for Andhra Pradesh, an issue which led the TDP to quit the ruling alliance on March 16.

On March 16, the Lower House could not take up notices for no-confidence motion against the NDA government moved by Andhra Pradesh parties following adjournment due to protests by the Opposition over various issues.

The Congress, DMK, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi have also raised their support for the no-confidence motion against NDA.
