Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren said today that a link has been seen between new coronavirus cases with Ranchi's Hindpiri which has been declared a containment zone.

"People of Hindpiri are going to other places, this has to stop. Now, CRPF will be deployed in Hindpiri. All borders with Ranchi will be sealed," the Jharkhand chief minister declared.

"We have decided not to implement the Central guidelines on the opening of shops, due to the rise in cases of coronavirus in Jharkhand," the chief minister said.

"No shops will open in any areas of the state until May 3. However, shops that were earlier allowed to open will remain functional," chief minister Hemant Soren said.

Mumbai Police said today that HC Shivaji Narayan Sonawane, 56, from Kurla traffic division died due to coronavirus.

Meanwhile, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee speaking at a press conference on Centre's decision toopenstand-alone shops, said: "On one side they say lockdown should be strictly maintained, on the other hand, they're saying to open all shops. What should we do? There is a lack of clarity between whatthe Central government is saying and their directives."

"Central government is releasing circulars all of a sudden. I don't have any problem with it but there must be some consultation. They should have asked the position of states," the West Bengal chief minister added.

As the lockdown continues, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said that students from Kota cannot be brought back as it would need amendments to the existing lockdown guidelines.
