Mahatma Gandhi’s statue outside the Indian Embassy in Washington DC desecrated by unruly elements involved in the ongoing protests in the US.

The United States Park police have launched an investigation into the desecration of the statue.

Protests have erupted across the US over the death of an African-American man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd died on 25 May after a white cop pressed his knee on the African-American man’s neck.

Following the incident, protesters have taken to the streets across the country to protest against police brutality and racial injustice. Some of the protesters have also resorted to violence and looting.
