Maharashtra reports highest single-day coronavirus fatalities; death toll at 4128

Maharashtra reported highest single-day fatalities in the last 24 hours with the total death toll climbing to 4,178.

The state reported 178 COVID-19 related deaths in 24 hours along with 2,786 cases. The total number of cases in the state has now climbed to 1,10,744, according to the state health department.

Authorities said 5,60,49 people have been discharged after being hospitalized.

Meanwhile, India's financial capital Mumbai reported 58 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the death toll in the state's capital to 2,248 deaths.

The number of coronavirus cases in the city has now shot up to 5,92,01. Health authorities said 30,125 have been discharged from hospital after recovering from the virus even though there are 26,828 active cases in the city.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to install CCTV cameras within 24 hours in all coronavirus wards of hospitals in order to ensure efficient monitoring and supervision of patient care.

The national capital reported 73 deaths in the last 24 hours with 1,647 new cases.

The death toll in Delhi due to coronavirus has risen to 1,400 with the total number of cases surging to 42,829, the health department informed.
