LeT terrorist killed, policeman injured in a shootout in J&K’s Anantnag

A terrorist was killed after Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled a weapon-snatching bid at a police picket in Achabal block of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

A police personnel also got injured in the incident. He was later shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

The injured policeman is stable now said the spokesman, adding that two cars seized by the police which were “apparently” used by the militants.

"In the retaliatory action, one terrorist was killed. The weapon of the terrorist was also recovered from the site of the attack," said a police spokesperson.

"Two cars apparently used by the terrorists were seized by police. Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation in the instant matter is in progress," the spokesperson concluded.

The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the terrorist and have mounted a search operation in the area to nab the remaining terrorists who escaped during the shootout.
