The Kolkata police arrested a teacher of a private school on Friday for allegedly molesting a class 2 student for the past six months.
Massive protests are being carried out by the parents who gathered outside the school, demanding suspension and punishment for the accused. A police personnel was also hurt during the protest.
The police said that the child was being sexually abused by her dance teacher when she came to her parents with the complaint on Thursday. Also, one of the agitating parents alleged that the school authorities tried to downplay the matter when they were informed about it.
"It was then we decided to stage a protest outside the school," he said.
"We have taken the teacher with us to the police station," the police said, adding the parents assaulted the accused when he was being taken away.

School authorities did not issue any statement till Friday afternoon but Sudeshna Ray, a member of West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said they did not deny the allegation and were “sympathetic to the victim and her family,” reports said.
