
Jammu and Kashmir panchayat polls will be held in nine phases on November 17, 20, 24, 27, 29 and December 1, 4, 8 and 11 respectively, J&K Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra told media.
According to reports, counting of votes will take place on the day of polling. Votes will be cast using ballot paper, news agency ANI reported.
Meanwhile, Kabra also announced that urban local bodies elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted in four phases starting October 8.
"We shall be starting the local bodies elections for municipal bodies first and then the panchayat elections. The municipal elections will be four phased and it will be held on party-basis," Kabra told reporters.
"The last date for filing nominations for the phase will be September 25 while the date of withdrawal of nominations will be September 28. The date of poll for the first phase will be October 8," Kabra added.
