Noida, India
An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was detained by Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday (May 26) after the dead body of his live-in partner was found in his upscale Noida flat. Saurabh Meena, the IRS officer, was arrested from the Lotus Boulevard apartment complex in Noida's Sector 100 as he is accused of killing Shilpa Gautam, a human resources executive at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Her body was found hanging inside her room from a rope made of cloth. As per media reports, Meena had himself alerted the police about Shilpa's condition and claimed that she died by suicide.
Shilpa's father levels serious allegations
According to OP Gautam, the father of the victim, Shilpa and Meena were in a relationship for the last three years after they had met through a dating app. OP Gautam alleged that Meena had promised to marry Shilpa but he failed to honour his commitment. The father went a step further and accused the IRS officer of deceit and physical abuse.
