Bahujan Samaj Partysupremo Mayawati said Sunday that she is ready for an alliance anywhere, in any election, provided her party is given a respectable share of seats.
''We will agree for alliance anywhere and in any election only when we get a respectable share of seats, otherwise BSP will contest alone,'' the former UP CM was quoted as saying.
The BSP chief also accused BJP governments at the Centre and invarious states of diversionary tactics.
''BJP Governments in states and in the Centre are trying to hide their failures by diversionary tactics. They have not fulfilled their election promises,'' she said.
She also accused BJP of trying to use Atal Behari Vajpayee's death for political gains.
The opposition has been working at stitching together a mahagatbandhan (grand alliance) for the 2019 elections.
There has also been talkof this grand alliance putting up only one opposition candidate in each seat to take on the BJP.
That would ensure there is no splitting of the non-BJP vote.
The opposition has had some success with this strategy, like in the recent Kairana Lok Sabha byelections in UP where the jointopposition candidate won.
Interestingly, Mayawati added that she had "no relation" with Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad who was recently released from prison.
''I have no relation to such people. I am only related to the common man, Dalits, Adivasis and people from backward castes,'' Mayawati said.Azad on the other hand had recently referred to Mayawati as "Buaji"(aunt).
