The workers had been protesting against Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
The 18th-century ruler of Mysore has of late tendedto divide public opinion, with one half of the population seeing him as a popular hero who fought tenaciously against the British while the other half sees him as an oppressor of his kingdom's Hindu population.

Heavy security arrangements are in place in Karnataka today on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the 18th century ruler of the kingdom of Mysore.
An incident of stone throwing at a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus was reported in the hill town of Madikeri, during a protest against the celebrations, ANI reported.
Section 144, which prohibits assembly of five or more people, has been imposed in Kodagu, which witnessed violence last year.
All kinds of public procession in have been restricted Karnataka today to prevent any untoward incident, Bengaluru Police Commissioner T Sunil Kumar said on Thursday.
"No procession or anti-procession will be permitted in the city. If required, we will impose Section 144 and a strict action will be taken against anyone who breaks the rules," the top police official had said.
"A circular has been issued restricting all kinds of public processions. All security arrangements will be made to maintain law and order in the city. As many as 13,000 policemen, along with the personnel of the Garud Commando Force, 30 platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) and 20 platoons of the City Armed Reserve (CAR), will be deployed in the sensitive and the hypersensitive areas."
Prohibitory orders are in place in five districts of Karnataka, The Times of India reported, adding that police has been deployed in large numbers in the districts of Srirangapatna, Kodagu, Coimbatore, Mangaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi-Dharwad.
Police presence has also been increased in the city of Kalaburagi.
The Karnataka Government, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has planned to celebrate the erstwhile ruler's birth anniversary.
The opposition BJP and some outfits are opposed to Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
The Congress government views Tipu Sultan as a patriot, who fought against the British. The BJP and the RSS consider him a tyrant monarch who was biased against Hindus.
The Karnataka High Court earlier in the week refused to put a stay on Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations and said it would be celebrated across the state on November 10.
Tipu Jayanti is being observed since 2015 following a government decision.
