Tollywoodproducer-director B. Ashok Kumar committed suicide in his home Alwarthirunagar near Valasaravakkam, on Tuesday, reports confirmed.
Kumar, who was a relative of director-actor Sasikumar, also wrote a suicide note in which he blamed a film financer - Anbu Chezhiya, from Madurai, from whom his production company had been taking loans - for leading him to take the severe step, reports said.
According to reports, an official from the Valasaravakkam police station informed that Kumar committed suicide by hanging in hisapartment at Arcot Road in Alwarthirunagar after reportedly being coerced by Chezhiya to pay the loan he had takenseven years ago along with an exorbitant amount of interest.
Chezhiyawas allegedly harassing the producer-director and had reportedlythreatened to kidnap his family. Kumar's suicide note reportedly statedthere were only two options left for him - either to kill the financier or end his life.
Sasikumar, along with filmmakers Bala, Samuthirakani, Karu Pazhaniappan and Ameer have lodged a complaint with Valasaravakkam police station, reports said.
Meanwhile, Vishal, the President of Tamil Nadu Producers' Council and Secretary of Nadigar Sangam, expressed his condolences and requested the police to take it as a "murder charge"rather than "suicide".
