Encounter starts in North Kashmir’s Sopore area, security forces believe two terrorists holed up

An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces in the Nowpora area of Sopore in NorthKashmir'sBaramulla District. Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed that an encounter had started at Check Mohalla Nowpora inthe area ofPolice District Sopore. Security forces believe one or two terroristsare trappedat the encounter site.
''An encounter has started at Check Mohalla Nowpora inthe area ofPD Sopore. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,''said Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Security forces said that they hadinput about the presence of one or two terrorists in theareaafter which a cordon and search operationwas launched. During the search operation, terrorists fired on security forcesresultingin a gun battle.
Security forces have called in more reinforcements in the area as terrorists could take advantage of the darkness to escape from the operation site. All the exit points of the area havebeen completely sealedandlights have alsobeen put uparound the area.
