Congress leader's daughter stabbed to death by ex-lover in India's Karnataka

The daughter of a Congress leader in the Indian state of Karnataka was stabbed to death by her ex-lover, the news agency PTI reported on Thursday (Apr 18)citingthepolice. Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporatorNiranjan Hiremathwasstudying at the BVB College inHubballi. Neha, 23, was a student of Masterof Computer Applications (MCA) at the institute, the police said.
The accusedwas identifiedas 23-year-old Fayaz and was arrested. As per the police, Neha and Fayaz were batchmates during their undergraduate studies.A case of murder was registeredand an investigation was underway.
The gruesome incident
The police said that Fayaz went inside the college campus with a knife and stabbed Neha. Hetoosustainedinjuries during the attack. The entire incidentwas caughton CCTV.
Both Neha and Fayazwere shiftedto a hospital, but the woman was declared brought dead.
