Bomb scare on another IndiGo flight as Mumbai airport declares emergency

An IndiGo flight, which took off from Chennai and was bound for Mumbai, made an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat on June 1 (Saturday).

According tomedia reports, IndiGo flight 6E-5314 - carrying 172passengersand crew members - made a safe landing at Mumbai airport at 8:45 am (local time) afterfull emergency was declared at the airport.

A note was found by the IndiGo crew in the lavatory whichmentioned the presence of a bomb. After the flight landed safely, the crew deboarded all passengers at the isolation bay and further security checks were being carried out.

Here's how crew and airport authorities reacted to bomb scare

The flight had departed from Chennai at around 6.50 am and was headed to Mumbai when the bomb scare happened. "An unclaimed remote was found on board the aircraft," said an official, while speaking to The Times Of India.

Mumbai air traffic control was informed about the situation by the pilots, as they requested an emergency landing.

The officials declared a full-scale emergency as fire tenders and ambulances remained on standby at the airport. The officials took the aircraft to an isolation bay for security checks related to the bomb scare.

In a statement, IndiGo Airlines said: "IndiGo flight 6E 5314 operating from Chennai to Mumbai had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft. The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area."

This is the second time a bomb scare has happened on an IndiGo flight in a week. The first bomb threat was received on May 28 on a flight flying from Delhi to Varanasi.

The crew had evacuated all passengers onboard flight 6E2211 safely through emergency doors, the airlines had stated in a statement.

All necessary protocols were followed by the airlines. Nearly 174 adults and two children were onboard the flight.
