The limited edition baseball cap, which was worn by the bomber - who carried out the low-intensity blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe in the Indian city of Bengaluru on March 1 - helped the investigators in Bengaluru identify him.
In a report published by The Indian Express,CCTV footage of the day showedthe suspectdonning a white cap. As many as 10 people had suffered injuries in the blast.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with the Bengaluru police's Central Crime Branch (CCB) has been heading the investigation into the case.

As per the media, the police officials discovered the cap lying abandoned nearly three kilometres from the cafe, where most probably the suspect also changed his shirt.

The limited edition branded cap, on which number 10 was printed, was sold by a retail store at a mall in the Indian city of Chennai, police discovered.
Limited edition cap held answer to suspect's identity
The officials found that the cap was among the limited edition series which was sold by a youth brand and had a serial number on it which helped the police officials trace the cap back to the point of sale.
In India, the brand has sold only 400 such caps. The investigators looked into the CCTV footage provided by the store and spotted two people who had purchased the cap as well as some other items from the store in January.

When the images taken from the footage were matched with those collected from a public bus in Bengaluru, where the police had spotted the suspect without a mask, the officials were able to get more clarity regarding the suspect's identity.
As per the report, the man was a missing person from the Islamic State's Shivamogga module known as Musavir Hussain Shazib.
The NIA had announced a Rs 10lakh reward for anyone who helpedin the arrest ofShazib. He has been on the investigative agencies' radar since January 2020.
