30 BJP lawmakers fails to show up at Triple Talaq Bill discussion

Lok Sabha passed triple talaq bill on Friday amid huge uproar by some opposition parties.
BJP had issued a whip to all it's Lok Sabha MP's, two days before tabling the bill mentioning that everyone needs to be present while the Triple Talaq Bill will be taken up for discussion.
However, 30 party lawmakers did not show up for the discussion.
“I am aware, some MPs told me and took prior permission, about others we will look into the matter. The remaining MPs will be asked for reasons for their absence,” Anurag Thakur, BJP Chief Whip said.
The bill passed in Lok Sabha proposes to make the practice of instant triple talaq a punishable offence under the Indian Penal Code with the provision of a three-year jail term for the erring husband.

During the proceedings in Lok Sabha regarding the bill, some Opposition parties kept insisting on sending the bill to a Joint Select Committee and walked out of the House just before the bill was put to vote as their demand was not accepted.
The Bill was taken up in the Parliament in August last year after a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court termed unconstitutional the law that allowed Muslim men to divorce their wives simply by uttering the word "talaq" three times in quick succession.
