Odisha Assembly polls result: BJD registers massive gains, Naveen Patnaik set for another term as Chief Minister

The counting of votes for the Odisha Assembly elections pronounced another term for incumbent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Biju Janata Dal, at the moment, leads in over 100 seats in the 147-member House. As the results pour-in and the counting nears close, Patnaik is set to become the chief minister for the fifth consecutive term.
In the 2014 Assembly elections, BJD had secured 117 seats while BJP bagged 10 seats. Congress won 16 seats in the state. Patnaik became Chief Minister of Odisha in 1997. From then on he never lost in the five Assembly elections held in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Patnaik on the win.
"Congratulations to Naveen Babu for yet another victory in Odisha. Wishing him the very best for the next term," PM's tweet read.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has overtaken the tally board in the Lok Sabha polls results,maintaining a strong lead in over 340 seats.
The BJP headquarters in New Delhi, as well as elsewhere, could be seen painted in colours of jubilation. Party leaders, as well as PM Modi, took to Twitter earlier in the day and thanked the electors for placing trust in the party again.

PM Modi stated that collective development and people's trust has led to the victory of the nation in the win of the party.
