<p>Navratri 2025 is here, one of India’s most vibrant festivals. It is celebrated with immense devotion, music, food, and of course, dance. The nine nights honour the nine divine forms of Goddess Durga, and no Navratri celebration feels complete without the energetic beats of Garba and Dandiya Raas. But do you know, these folk dances are not only a visual spectacle but also carry deep cultural and spiritual meanings.&nbsp;</p><h2>Why are Garba and Dandiya performed during Navratri?&nbsp;</h2><p>Both Garba and Dandiya trace their origins to Gujarat and have been performed for centuries as a way of honouring Goddess Durga. The dances are seen as a re-enactment of the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura, symbolising the victory of good over evil. Spiritually, they encourage participants to let go of negativity, connect with the divine, and begin life afresh with positive energy.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The circular formations in Garba and rhythmic clashing of sticks in Dandiya are more than just entertainment; they are offerings of prayer and devotion, blending joy with spirituality.&nbsp;</p><h2>What is Garba?</h2><p>Garba is one of the oldest and most popular dance forms performed during Navratri. The name comes from the Sanskrit word garbha, meaning womb, and symbolises creation and life. Traditionally, Garba is performed around a clay pot with a lamp inside, known as the garbha deep. The pot represents the body, while the light inside stands for the soul or divine energy. This setup reminds devotees that divinity resides within each person.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The dance itself is performed in a circular formation, with dancers moving rhythmically to devotional songs in praise of Goddess Durga. The circles represent the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, with the goddess at the centre as the constant divine presence. The steps usually include clapping, swaying, and twirling in unison, creating a graceful and devotional atmosphere. Garba is traditionally performed before the nightly aarti.&nbsp;</p><h2>What is Dandiya Raas?</h2><p>Dandiya Raas, often simply called Dandiya, is another lively dance form of Navratri. Unlike Garba, this folk dance involves the use of two decorated sticks, which dancers strike together in rhythm while moving in pairs or groups. The sticks are believed to represent the sword of Goddess Durga, symbolising her victory over the demon Mahishasura. As a result, Dandiya is often referred to as the “sword dance.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This dance is characterised by its energetic moves, fast-paced beats, and playful interactions between dancers. While Garba carries a devotional tone, Dandiya leans more towards celebration and joy. It is usually performed after Garba, continuing late into the night, with participants dancing in sync to upbeat folk music mixed with modern sounds.&nbsp;</p><h2>Are Garba and Dandiya the same?</h2><p>Although Garba and Dandiya are often performed together during Navratri, they are not the same. Garba is a devotional dance performed without props, focusing on graceful hand and foot movements in circular patterns. It symbolises the cycle of life and devotion to the goddess. Dandiya, on the other hand, is performed with sticks and represents the battle between Goddess Durga and evil forces. It is faster, more energetic, and usually takes place after Garba as a way of celebrating victory.&nbsp;</p><h2>The Spirit of Navratri</h2><p>Beyond their cultural and mythological roots, Garba and Dandiya bring people together. These nights bring families, friends, and communities together, filling the atmosphere with joy, laughter, and devotion. Whether you are gracefully clapping in Garba or matching beats in Dandiya, both dances are perfect for celebrating Navratri 2025. &nbsp;</p>

Navratri is incomplete without garba or dandiya nights. Dressed in traditional attire, men and women celebrate this pious festival with these energetic dance forms. Let's find out about their origin and significance.

Navratri 2025: What's the significance of Garba and Dandiya during Durga Puja?

<p>What happens when Bollywood decides to roast itself? Well, Aryan Khan’s debut series The Ba***ds of Bollywood just did exactly that. The seven-episode series is messy, loud, and entertaining. The show reveals the grey, and the beeped-out side of the glitzy world in its rawest form.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Streaming on Netflix, the show is garnering a lot of reactions for the madness it showcases. Aryan, along with his co-writers Bilal Siddiqui and Manav Chauhan, has drawn heavy inspiration from the real B-town. By making a show about Bollywood that comments on Bollywood and its stars, they’ve created a reel-real world, almost a mirror image of the industry itself.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/has-aryan-khan-not-directed-the-ba-ds-of-bollywood-himself-this-actor-spills-the-truth-1758688222371">Has Aryan Khan not directed The Ba***ds of Bollywood? THIS actor tells the truth</a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The parallels with reality are evident in the characters, incidents, and dialogues, which echo controversies and public narratives. The result is raw, spicy, and hilariously self-aware. Here are a few moments from the show that deserve your attention:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>The Sameer Wankhede roast</h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The biggest and most viral roast that no one expected was of a police raid at a Bollywood party. In the first episode, there’s a sequence of a success party that directly digs at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who arrested Aryan in a drug case back in 2021.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In the scene, a police van arrives, and a man resembling Wankhede steps out. He declares, “Drugs have ruined this country.” The real roast happens when he ignores a man openly smoking and instead arrests an only drunk actor.</p>

<h2>Karan Johar and the ‘Movie Mafia’ Tag</h2><p>Dharma Productions head and celebrated filmmaker Karan Johar presents the rawest version of himself in the show. He curses, mocks, and embraces the image people have of him, especially as the so-called Flag-bearer of Nepotism. Among many bold moments, one dialogue has gone viral as a dig at Kangana Ranaut, who famously branded him ''Movie Mafia.''</p>

<h2>The famous round-table roast</h2><p>One episode features a journalist hosting a round table with newcomers. Aasmaan ends up in a heated argument with star kid Karishma Talvar (Sahher Bambba) over nepotism privilege. Many viewers felt this scene directly referenced the 2021 viral round-table where Siddhant Chaturvedi called out Ananya Panday for her privilege.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/gauri-khan-s-special-surprise-as-shah-rukh-khan-wins-his-first-national-film-award-1758632753055"><strong>Gauri Khan’s special surprise as King Khan wins his first National Film Award</strong></a></p><h2>Say ‘No to Drugs’</h2><p>&nbsp;</p>

Still from the Ba***ds Of Bollywood

<p>After two years of silence, Aryan has finally addressed his infamous drug case, through satire. In one sequence, producer Freddy Sodawallah (Manish Chaudhary) delivers the line, “Say no to drugs.” Immediately after, the credits flash “Directed by Aryan Khan.” The sequence works as a tongue-in-cheek response to the allegations once levelled against him.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also read:</strong> T<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/the-b-ds-of-bollywood-review-aryan-khan-s-show-is-fun-but-raghav-juyal-makes-it-unmissable-1758274342832">he Ba***ds of Bollywood review: Aryan Khan's show is fun, but Raghav Juyal makes it unmissable</a></p><h2>The Filmfest speech</h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In one of the most emotional scenes, Aryan blurs the line between reel and real with a tribute to his father, Shah Rukh Khan. When Lakshya wins the Filmfest Award, the reel version of Filmfare, he dedicates his speech to his parents. Many believe this was Aryan’s ode to SRK and a parallel to his own Filmfare moment when he dedicated his win to his mother.</p>

In Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan Khan has somewhat removed the imaginary wall by presenting the very raw and shocking side of the tinsel town.

What happens when Bollywood decides to roast itself? Well, Aryan Khan’s debut series The Ba***ds of Bollywood just did exactly that. The seven-episode series is messy, loud, and entertaining. The show reveals the grey, and the beeped-out side of the glitzy world in its rawest form. Streaming on Netflix, the show is garnering a lot of reactions for the madness it showcases. Aryan, along with his co-writers Bilal Siddiqui and Manav Chauhan, has drawn heavy inspiration from the real B-town. By making a show about Bollywood that comments on Bollywood and its stars, they’ve created a reel-real world, almost a mirror image of the industry itself. Also read: Has Aryan Khan not directed The Ba***ds of Bollywood? THIS actor tells the truth The parallels with reality are evident in the characters, incidents, and dialogues, which echo controversies and public narratives. The result is raw, spicy, and hilariously self-aware. Here are a few moments from the show that deserve your attention: The Sameer Wankhede roast The biggest and most viral roast that no one expected was of a police raid at a Bollywood party. In the first episode, there’s a sequence of a success party that directly digs at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who arrested Aryan in a drug case back in 2021. In the scene, a police van arrives, and a man resembling Wankhede steps out. He declares, “Drugs have ruined this country.” The real roast happens when he ignores a man openly smoking and instead arrests an only drunk actor.

<p>The stage is set, the vibe is electric, and the premiere of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle will see the reunion Amar -Prem: Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Because before that I used to feel ki bhai time pe nahi aata, humko bohot problem hoti thi, Andaz Apna Apna mein (I used to feel he doesn’t come on time, we often faced problems during the shooting of Andaz Apna Apna).” Aamir further confesses to being judgmental, saying, “I want to say something. I was very hard as a person.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Amid all the nok-jhok and friendly fire between the two Khans, Salman slips in a candid peek into his past relationships. Both need to get off each other’s backs. I believe that.”&nbsp;</p>

If there is anyone to blame, I am the one to blame.” He even shares his wish of having a child someday: “Children, I will have, one day, soon.” He continued, “It’s just that eventually one will have kids, but let’s see.”</p><p> </p><p>All this, and so much more in store, awaits the crackling Khan-tastic episode. The first episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle premieres on September 25 on Prime Video.</p>

New chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle is set to premiere on September 25. The first episode will have Salman Khan and Aamir Khan sharing the couch as they spill personal details to hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna.

The stage is set, the vibe is electric, and the premiere of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle will see the reunion Amar -Prem: Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. The two actors come together on one couch, decades later to spill some personal details to hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. The promo of the first episode of the anticipated chat show is out and shows the four Bollywood stars share laughs which quickly spiral into heartfelt revelations. Aamir admits he was judgmental towards Salman. Meanwhile, the Sultan actor reveals his wish to embrace fatherhood. Premiering on Thursday, September 25, the episode is packed with many such moments, which the audience can’t afford to miss. But the real question is, will Kajol and Twinkle roast the Khans, or will the Khans gang up against the sassiest hosts in town? Salman kicks things off with a throwback, joking about how he and Aamir apparently went to school together but barely remember it. Further, Aamir reveals how he and Salman bonded when Salman first visited his place for dinner and said, “Actually, I think it happened when I went through my divorce with Reena. You remember? You had come over for dinner, and that’s when Salman and I first actually connected properly. Salman mein bohot judgemental tha yaar, shuru shuru mein na. I was very hard as a person.” Amid all the nok-jhok and friendly fire between the two Khans, Salman slips in a candid peek into his past relationships. He says, “When a partner grows more than the other partner, that is when the differences start coming in; that’s when the insecurity starts setting in, so they both need to grow together. Both need to get off each other’s backs. I believe that.”

<h2>A personal moment at the ceremony</h2><p>The emotional core of<i> Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway</i>- a film inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty, lies in a mother’s unyielding battle to reclaim her children from a foreign legal system. It’s a role that resonated deeply with audiences and critics alike, and perhaps no one more than Rani herself.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/alia-bhatt-slays-at-milan-fashion-week-shares-candid-pose-with-bts-jin-1758695553857"><strong>Alia Bhatt slays at Milan Fashion Week, shares candid pose with BTS' Jin</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“Adira is the centre of my world,” Rani has shared in past interviews. At the ceremony, she embodied that sentiment, choosing to keep her daughter’s presence close even as she stood solo on stage. While Adira did not accompany her mother, the gold necklace was a sweet reminder of the bond showed in the film.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/has-aryan-khan-not-directed-the-ba-ds-of-bollywood-himself-this-actor-spills-the-truth-1758688222371"><strong>Has Aryan Khan not directed The Ba***ds of Bollywood? THIS actor tells the truth</strong></a></p><h2>Rani’s traditional elegance</h2><p>Rani’s appearance was as timeless as her performance. Styled in a brown Sabyasachi saree with an intricately designed gold border, she paired it with a minimalist blouse, a double-layered choker necklace, and elegant dangling earrings. Her hair, parted at the centre and left loose, and the bronzed, matte-finish makeup, perfectly complemented the ensemble’s understated opulence. Adding layers to her was a simple yet sentimental gold chain, bearing Adira’s initials.</p><h2>About the award ceremony</h2><p>Rani shared the spotlight with some of Indian cinema’s finest. She was seated between Shah Rukh Khan, who won Best Actor for <i>Jawan</i>, and Vikrant Massey, recognised for his performance in <i>12th Fail</i>. The event, presided over by President Droupadi Murmu, brought together an impressive lineup including Mohanlal, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, and Meghna Gulzar.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/how-rich-are-vicky-kaushal-and-katrina-kaif-net-worth-revealed-1758639275295"><strong>How rich are Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif? Net worth revealed</strong></a></p><h2>Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway</h2><p>Directed by Ashima Chibber, <i>Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway</i> is based on the harrowing true story of an Indian mother whose children were taken away by Norwegian child welfare services. Rani’s raw and heart-wrenching performance captured the despair, grit, and resilience of a woman fighting against an entire system for her family.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The film earned critical acclaim for its emotional depth and social relevance, and while it had a modest box office performance (₹38.3 crore globally), its real impact was felt on OTT platforms and through awards recognitions like this.&nbsp;</p><h2>What’s next for Rani Mukerji?</h2><p>Fresh off her National Award win, Rani Mukerji is gearing up for an intense return in <i>Mardaani 3</i>, where she reprises her role as the fierce cop Shivani Shivaji Roy. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film is set to hit theatres on February 27, 2026, with the first poster already creating buzz online.&nbsp;</p>

Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress Award at the 71st National Film Awards. But besides the win, what grabbed the spotlight was her simple golden chain inscribed with her daughter Adira's initials, showcasing how the actress keeps her close to the heart.

Bollywood diva Rani Mukerji made a powerful statement at the 71st National Film Awards not just with her performance that earned her the Best Actress Award, but with a special gesture to her daughter, Adira. Draped in an elegant saree by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rani turned heads at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi as she accepted the prestigious honour for her emotional portrayal in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway (2023). What truly stole the spotlight, however, was a subtle but touching detail; a gold chain delicately inscribed with Adira’s initials. Rani Mukerji pays emotional tribute to daughter Adira at the 71st National Film Awards; Know how

<p>All eyes were on Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony that took place in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon. The two Bollywood stars, along with fellow winner Vikrant Massey, were seated together. Cameras hovered around them throughout the ceremony, capturing moments of the trio chatting and watching other winners take home the coveted award. A moment of the three wearing their medals soon after receiving them has been doing the rounds on the internet. What caught everyone’s attention was how Rani helped SRK detangle his medal and wear it properly around his neck, and soon broke into a smile together.&nbsp;</p><h2>Rani Mukerji helps Shah Rukh Khan</h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The video, which is very school-children-coded, has Vikrant first handing over SRK his medal. As Vikrant and Rani wear their respective medals, SRK seem to be struggling to detangle his medal. Rani, being a good friend, helps him out and puts the medal around his neck. She then offers him her phone’s front camera to see if the medal is sitting well around his neck.&nbsp;</p>

"It’s been overwhelming. I’ve heard from a lot of people over the last six days. I’ve heard from all the people in the world over the last six days. Everyone I’ve ever met have reached out 10 or 11 times. "The guy who fired me from my first radio job in Seattle where we are not airing tonight, by the way, his name is Larry. In 1989, Larry tried to force me to do a bit called Jokes for Donuts, where people would call in and tell jokes for donuts, and I refused to do it and eventually Larry fired me and I had to move back in with my parents. Even he checked in. Thank you, Larry,” said Kimmel. Kimmel Thanks Fellow Late-Night Show Hosts In his opening monologue, Kimmel thanked his fellow late-night show hosts for showing solidarity over the past week after the Disney-owned ABC suspended him. Kimmel remembered John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and Jay Leno, among others. Kimmel also thanked those who do not support his beliefs, “but support my right to share those beliefs." "I want to thank the people who don't support my show and what I believe, but support my right to share those beliefs anyway—Ben Shapiro, Clay Travis, Candace Owens, Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz...It takes courage to speak out against this administration," he said.
