It all started at Boulangerie Louvard in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, where owner Stéphane Louvard introduced the Crookie to his menu in 2022. The innovative pastry, which features a crisp croissant filled with gooey cookie dough, quickly became a hit among locals and tourists alike.

The Crookie's rise to fame can be traced back to an Instagram video shared by the account "The Ultimate Guide", which specialises in Paris restaurants. The irresistible combination of flaky croissant and sweet cookie dough instantly made the clip go viral across social media platforms. Since then, the Crookie has become a viral sensation, with bakeries across Paris and beyond now offering their own versions of the popular treat.

After seeing a couple of cooking videos, I can assure you that the Crookie recipe is not as intimidating and difficult as it sounds. There are several simplified recipes for this viral food trend that even novice bakers can try.

All you need to do is take a croissant and some cookie dough. You can use store-bought croissants and cookie dough for this recipe if making them from scratch is too much work for you.

Once you have the ingredients, pre-heat the oven to 180℃ and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Now, slice the croissant in half with a bread knife and generously stuff it with cookie dough. Now, take a little cookie dough and cover the ends of the croissant with it. Transfer the Crookie to the baking tray and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookie dough is set. Once you remove it from the oven, dust it with some powdered sugar. Serve them hot.
