Tobey Maguire, the OG Spider-Man is the most famous Spidey on the block with fans of the franchise always asking for him to return to the fold and do more movies. There have been rumours for a long time now that Tobey might return as Spidey in a fourth Spider-Man film that Sam Raimi is supposedly working on.
Addressing those rumours, Sam Raimi at WonderCon said, “Well, I haven’t heard about that yet. I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!'”
He continued, “I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it.”
Marvel fans have been speculating for quite some time that Raimi would reunite with Maguire for a potential fourth instalment of the Spidey universe he created in 2002. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst made a remarkable pair on the screen, so there are talks that even she would return in the fourth Spidey film, whenever it gets made.

Meanwhile, Sam Raimi went on to direct Spider-Man 2 in 2004 and Spider-Man 3 in 2007. The filmmaker returned to the Marvel universe in 2022 with the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
On the alleged fourth Spidey film, Sam added, “I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”
