Madonna's lawyers seek dismissal of lawsuit for late concert: 'Fans got just what they paid for'

Madonna's lawyers seek dismissal of lawsuit for late concert: 'Fans got just what they paid for'

Madonna

In addition to many of the bizarre court cases, Madonna in January 2024 was sued by her two fans for starting her New York City concert late. Months later, the pop star's team is hitting back at them.

Concertgoers Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden filed the case in connection with the concert that happened on December 13 at Barclays Center as part of Madonna’s Celebration tour. Calling out the organisers and the singer for starting her show more than two hours late than the scheduled time, in the lawsuit, they accused Madonnaof breaking the law

However, now a team of layers representing Madonna has shot back at the lawsuit filed by the two concertgoers. In the court documents obtained by Daily Mail, Madonna's attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss the January lawsuit, saying it's illogical for them to expect the ''Vogue'' singer to start the show on time.

''No reasonable concertgoer - and certainly no Madonna fan - would expect the headline act at a major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time,'' Madonna's lawyer said in the filing.

They added, ''Fans got just what they paid for: a full-length, high-quality show by the Queen of Pop.''

In the January lawsuit, the two concertgoers mentioned that no information was provided to ticketholders on the exact time the Madonna's performance would start.

“Defendants failed to provide any notice to the ticketholders that the concerts would start much later than the start time printed on the ticket and as advertised,” attorneys of the concertgoers said in the lawsuit.

The midnight singer's attorneys also mentioned the post shared by Hadden, one of the complainants. In the Facebook post, Hadden shared a photo from the concert as he went on to call the night, incredible.

''Caught her North American tour opener last night! An homage to NYC! Incredible, as always! I've never missed a Madonna Tour!'' the caption of his post reads.

Referencing Haden's social media, they said in the filling,''In other words, the concert met or exceeded his expectations.''

Arguing on the singer's fan claim that they “had to get up early to go to work” the next morning and had to facea lot of issues due to the late concert, theattorneys said thatticketholders who had to stay up late then get up early the next day 'is not cognizable injury.'

Mentioning Madonna's "years-long history" of "arriving several hours late to prior concerts," they said that plaintiffs should be awarethat concerts would not start at 8:30 PM.

Madonna took the stage on the December 13at Barclays Centerat 10:45 pm after a technical issue. The opening actby DJ Honey Dijon started at 8:30 PM.
