Jamie Foxx returns to comedy for first time since medical emergency

Jamie Foxx’s return to the stage was long due. The actor made his return to the standup comedy stage in Atlanta over the weekend where he opened up about his much-talked-about 2023 medical emergency.
Before Jamie took to the stage, CBS Mornings host Gayle King captured the actor’s expressions. He filmed an impromptu “interview” with him which he posted on social media. In the clip, Jamie is seen around people who cheer him on. As Jamie celebrated, he is heard saying, “You landed on the moon, man. Be so proud.”

Jamie joked and laughed on stage about his 2023 hospitalisation for a mystery illness that he has still not specified. For the first time, he went into detail about how he felt at the time.
The standup show was called, “What Had Happened Was.” Talking about it, he said, “It was excruciating because — the worry is what gets you. Yeah, we’ve got a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they may laugh at or what they may not laugh at. Usually, when you do a stand-up special, you go out for a year and work every nook and cranny, then you tape it. You don’t just show up in Atlanta and turn the camera on.”
Foxx announced the show in an Instagram post last month. He teased that the show will be “filled with humour, heart, and inspiration.”
