The internet is now tricky waters if you are a fan of House of the Dragon as the Game of Thronesspinoff is currently in its second season and is left with the season’s finale to premiere. A third-party distributor according to HBO was engaged in the leak of some portions of the finale episode which became a mood spoiler for many, especially the hardcore fans who didn’t enjoy getting to know spoilers before the actual episode.
Now that spoilers from the finale episode are currently circulating on various social media platforms, HBO has issued a statement about the House of the Dragon season 2 finale leak and said, “We are aware that clips from the House of the Dragon season finale have surfaced across social media platforms. The clips were posted after an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet, and fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max.”

The Season 2 finale is scheduled to air on August 4. But it made its way to TikTok last night and even though the studio banned the account, the clips found their way on social media platforms like X and Instagram. Those clips are now multiplying on different accounts, making it difficult for the studio to track all and delete them.
It was first reported by Variety that the TikTok account which leaked the season 2 finale episode posted about 14 videos, each around 30 minutes long. Before these videos were banned from the site, they had already been seen a few thousand times.
HBO is now struggling to contain the leak. It’s double the efforts for the show’s fans too because they have to mute hashtags and keywords on social media to avoid spoilers. This is not the first time that Game of Thrones and now House of the Dragon have suffered from a leak. Previously, the House of the Dragon season 1 finale leaked days before it aired in 2022.
