Personally, I don’t know why, but I saw Cersei from GOT season 8 in her. Ulf has shown who he actually is, and why Rhaenyra should be very careful. Now he has burnt it all. <p>Dismissing Mysaria, and force-feeding Helena shows how far she has fallen in her desperation to become Queen. Or we could say, how all this is turning into an ugly, bloodthirsty Queen. Helena is way too good to be at this palace, and she just wanted to raise her kids and chickens. Throughout the season, I yearned for dragons, which we got in the first episode, and again in this one. But all in all, this finale was not something we would call a GOT world finale. It didn’t have that level of adrenaline rush. You’ll watch it for the sake of watching it.</p>

<p>So much is happening, but all of it comes with underwhelming twists and turns. Many questions were left unanswered, which left me with the impression that it all happened in a rush. This episode played out in a very uneven way with no clear focus. While nothing good or flowery to expect when the war is going on, it also has moments that will entertain you, but you will not talk about it later while having a serious conversation about HOD.</p>

<h3>What works in this episode?</h3><p>Much better than last episode, which I found to be one of the most boring ones; this one was slightly better. But all in all, this one-hour episode impressed with its different moments and sequences that happened. Like the past two episodes, this one struck a balance between the heavy dialogues and the scenes that echo what the characters are going through. <p>Adding to this, one of the most intriguing segments that holds our interest is Alys Rivers, and she continues to be one of the most mysterious and intriguing characters this season. She saved Prince Aemond Targaryen in Harrenhal, and now that she has revealed her intentions, it will play a major role in favour of the Greens. But we can’t comment on Aemond, who at any moment can change sides. However, speaking of moments, the one scene that had my heart was Vermithor and Silverwing. Instead of showing the war we have been waiting for, it has largely focused on grief, crying, redemption, and pain. Every character is suffering: Rhaenyra, with her throne; Daemon, with his ego; Alicent, with her mother’s guilt; Aemond, with his emotional struggle; Daeron Targaryen, who remembers nothing of his mother, is yearning for her. So far, this season of House of the Dragon feels very different with the catastrophe of emotions that it comes with. Also, just putting one or two shocking moments, will not make the entire episode entertaining.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Only two episodes are left, and I really doubt where and at what bar this season will wrap.</p>

<p>New ghost, or we call the killer, is on a spree against to kill the soldiers. But who is this person? This has to be revealed as soon as possible. But as of now, it's Ormund's hidden men in the town. The House of the Dragon season 3 episode 5 graph has gone from low to high. After the midseason episode 4, where the bar reached a peak we had been anticipating all this while, the latest episode had a few things that were more than entertaining, and other things that were not at all thrilling.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) continues to struggle with her feelings, her enemies, and a bankrupt kingdom that seems impossible to recover this season. Picking up from where the last episode left off, Ormund Hightower emerged as the biggest threat after he and his army took over the town of Tumbleton, which had pledged to the Queen. The re-entry we were waiting for was Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), who is recovering from a stomach wound, and Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), who is still struggling in the aftermath of his elopement. The episode begins with Criston Cole and his forces attempting to stop the Riverlands army and the Winter Wolves, and they are successful to an extent. But what comes ahead for them is more shocking. Rhaenyra and Daemon are already not on good terms over how the gold has been spent, as the Queen refuses to give money to the soldiers. Now, with the soldiers unpaid, there is another threat; they are being murdered by someone. But who? It seems like Ormund Hightower (James Norton) has a lot to answer for.</p>

<h3>Long conversation with a shocking climax</h3><p>Titled Unbowed and Unbent, this episode focuses more on what’s happening around Rhaenyra, things that will eventually come for her or against her. Helaena’s (Phia Saban) pregnancy is shocking for Alicent (Olivia Cooke), who only wants this baby to die in her mother’s womb before things go out of control again. Rhaenyra, who has shown mercy in the past, may only order the killing of that child. <p> To save herself and her daughter, Alicent makes a plan to run away from the palace, as the gold cloaks and the soldiers are secretly facing threats, and there aren’t many guards left for their safety. But they are caught by Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) as they were attempting to escape. The later conversation between Mysaria and Alicent will definitely hint that a shocking twist is about to happen, which may again be against the Queen only.</p>

<p>The 1-hour 3-minute episode is heavy on dialogue and the conspiracies happening in different parts. While some new faces and the twists and turns may confuse at times, overall, this episode builds the bar for the climax, which is now only two episodes away. It ends with Daemon watching the shocking sight of his gold cloaks being murdered, and Alicent and Helaena getting stuck in a secret passage between the walls of the palace.</p>

<p>If they remain trapped in that dark way, they will be considered to have eloped. While all this is happening, Aemond and Aegon are both weak; one has lost his whole kingdom, and the other has lost his power, his dragon. But as frustrating as Aegon kills the man and Aaemod fights with the group who have arrived in Harrnelall to find him gives the idea that they may be weak, but they will come off strong in the future.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This episode is heavy on words, which also makes the middle stretch feel a little boring. But it still demands attention for what it’s setting up, where things are building and where they’re heading. Aemond’s comeback is interesting, but Rhaenyra and Daemon’s new cold war is what’s really grabbing attention now, and this all happens when the threat is almost near them. And after the murder of the gold cloaks, that conflict could take a much more drastic turn. Meanwhile, Alicent and Helaena continue to pull your attention with whatever they’re doing in that room. Ormund is intimidating with big dreams (I think he will be murdered by Prince Daeron Targaryen), and Criston Cole still has to impress Alicent, but for now, he’s tired and stuck in between nowhere. &nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>With a shocking climax, this episode demands a lot of patience and offers only a little entertainment. Here’s hoping for more thrills in the coming episode.&nbsp;</p>

And this sums up what is the episode &nbsp;2 is all about.</p><p><br>Starting right after the Battle of the Gullet and the death of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy)'s son, Jacaerys Velaryon, the crown prince. She's devastated, and revenge is surely on her mind, along with more Daemon (Matt Smith), which I asked for in my review of episode 1. Things have grown more brutal, but this episode, titled 'Queen's Landing,' and the name itself sums up what happens. With more intense drama, grief, and the deaths we expect when Daemon is back, this episode is surely more gripping than what we were welcomed with.</p>

<p>After losing the crown prince, what has Rhaenyra left but tears? But that's not the case. Episode 2 gives us things that were expected much later this season. But as events have happened much before their time, it will be interesting to see where the story moves ahead. A lot has happened in a way that will surely not have good returns.</p><h3>What happens in Episode 2?</h3><p>Starting with the dragons, who have set every boat on the water ablaze, there is devastation and bodies floating across the waters. And among them is one body the Queen was not expecting at all. With all the grief, it’s eye-for-an-eye time. While the Blacks seek revenge, the Greens, led by Aegon Targaryen in the past, now by Alicent, know this will only lead to a bloodbath, and she’s not going to risk her life. So she goes on the run with Princess Helaena Targaryen, and this with the relief that his son, Aemond is save at Harrenhal, where actually things have not gone in his favour. I won't share more here, as for me, especially, this was the most satifying scene of the show.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3>More tears, fewer dragons</h3><p>What really impressed me in this episode is how the story takes the forefront, more than the war. Words and dialogue are front and centre at the table, rather than swords and beheadings, although those are still there, including some we didn't expect. But the other thing that throws you off is how incoherent this episode is. What makes it worthwhile, though, is Emma’s performance. She truly delivers one of her best, as a mother who is grieving, as a Queen who has to fight for her own throne, and the price is her own children.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>In one of the most impactful scenes, Rhaenyra stands before the Iron Throne with Otto Hightower on his knees in front of her. She hesitates to behead him, and her first attempt fails. In the second time, she kills him and walks away bloodied, with unsteady steps we haven’t seen from her before. That’s where the raw emotion hits; she’s angry, but it’s her grief and vulnerability that break through. And those first five minutes of the episode stick with you. Emma D’Arcy says everything with just her eyes. Those opening moments alone are enough to impress.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Rhaenyra has returned to her throne, and the Greens are on the back foot. One is winning, other, seems like it is losing. Yet both houses seem bound to the same fate - death, unprecedented fear, and grief.</p><p><br>What doesn’t work in episode 2 is the inconsistency, and this has been the case with many Game of Thrones episodes as well. With so many characters, in trying to cover them all, so much happens that you miss parts of it. In this case, the two scenario, one was of the Sea Snake with his kids, and the second of the Daemon with Alys Rivers (played by Gayle Rankin).&nbsp;</p>

<p>But despite all this, the arc of the show remains gripping, and Emma D’Arcy’s performance makes you forget everything else.No matter how much I hate Aemond Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell’s performance brings that character to life. Except for that weird kiss, his character isn’t fully realized yet either. Still, fingers crossed, I’m waiting for more.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Alicent faces her own struggles as a mother, doing everything she can to save her children. But will she keep them all alive? Only time will tell.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This episode was more about ambition and human emotions playing with no wins, but with all this, things are tearing apart, and it's quite evident with Rhaenyra's tears.</p>

If you recall episode 3 of season 2, when Alicent and Rhaenyra meet in secret, it showed two women who understood the war's aftermath and were trying to handle it with reason. After that, as everyone knows, everything collapsed, and war and bloodshed are the reality. This episode also comes with those emotions, where war is not the need, but it is something that will eventually happen.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The new season opens with war, new characters, and a battle that claims a few lives, not surprising, given the Game of Thrones world, where anything can happen at any time.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Episode 1, titled Salt and Sea, Fire and Blood, delivered plenty of thrills, bloodshed, bodies, and characters. Once her best friend, Alicent, arrived at King’s Landing last season with an offer for peace. But in that room of men and one woman, they convinced Rhaenyra that Alicent can't be trusted. While episode 1 establishes who is doing what and where things are heading, the Battle of the Gullet takes centre stage. There’s plenty of dragon dancing, with one dragon killed. Rhaenyra has more dragons, and her side is bolstered by new bastard dragonriders: Ulf (Tom Bennett), Addam (Clinton Liberty), and Hugh (Kieran Bew). But she has lost something very precious to her.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, Alicent’s elder son, Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), is half-burnt and bedridden. Yet he leaves the palace with Lord Larys. Her second son, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), listens to no one and is intent only on defeating the Blacks. Running an hour long, the new season starts with the right balance between its emotional weight and a war that has grown bigger than Alicent and Rhaenyra. It feels like the show is finally embracing the reality of war after two seasons of clever politics and betrayal. At the same time, several moments feel distant, lacking the connection or rhythm that made us stick to this franchise. But it’s unfair to judge too much; it’s only episode 1, and more can unfold. The episode also keeps things at a distance, observing characters from afar without digging deep. So have to wait.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The episode's one great part was at the climax, which has surely built excitement for the second episode. Watching the battle unfolding in the sea, dragons flying in the sky, and the eagerness to see who is going to be killed this time remains intact. However, what I have not been a big fan of in the GOT franchise was the number of characters, while House of Dragon is far more limited in the number of characters in GOT, but still, in this episode 1, dozens of characters are all here, so it needs attention.</p><h3>Queen Rhaenyra, the best scene</h3><p>The most impactful scene in episode 1 was surely not the kiss (ifkyk), but the one where Rhaenyra is locked in a room by her own son, Prince Jacaerys, as she prepares to head to war. On his command, her guard refuses to open the door. The scene features Rhaenyra responding after she’s told he only wishes to protect her,“I never asked to be protected.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Snobbing and angry at the same time, she says, “I may appear to have the weak and feeble body of a woman, but I possess the heart and spirit of a king.”&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This is how a woman, who is the queen, the dragon-rider, is challenged not only by other men, but by her own son, at her own home, who believes he will be the one to bring her victory.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Daemon (Matt Smith) had nothing much to play in episode one, but he surely has a much bigger role to play in upcoming episodes and in the fight for the throne.</p><h3>Final verdict</h3><p>This is only the beginning, so it’s too early to judge. The urgency isn’t high yet, but the shocking deaths and the dragons are there. So we will have to get through this one to get into the later episodes, which will surely deliver that House of the Dragon feel, giving us more of Daemon, Alicent, and Rhaenyra.</p>

Season 3 of House of the Dragon will have eight episodes and production is taking place in the United Kingdom. House of the Dragon season 3 begins production

<p>Even though House of the Dragon is known for its intense drama, the set is full of laughter, thanks to some hilarious moments among the cast. During a New York Comic Con panel on October 20, actors Matt Smith, Fabien Frankel, and Tom Glynn-Carney shared funny stories about their time filming the fantasy series.</p>

<p>One of the highlights was Rhys Ifans, who plays Otto Hightower. According to the cast, Ifans often lightens the mood on set. Frankel, 30, joked that while Ifans knows exactly what’s going on with his character, he often acts like he has no idea what’s happening. “He’d be like, ‘No idea what’s going on today,’” Frankel said, making the audience laugh.</p>

<p>Smith, 41, who plays Daemon Targaryen, called Ifans “the funniest man on the planet.” Frankel added that working with Ifans can be a real challenge because of how much he makes everyone laugh. “Every day is an uphill struggle to try and do something professional,” Frankel joked.</p>

<p>He even shared how difficult it was for the show’s producers. “I feel like I can feel HBO behind the monitor going, like, ‘Jesus f***ing Christ, Rhys,’” he said, imagining how hard it must be for them to keep everything on track when Ifans is around.</p>

<p>Despite the laughter, Ifans’ character Otto Hightower plays a serious role in the series. According to House of the Dragon co-creator Ryan Condal, Otto will have an important role in the next season. “The Otto Hightower tale has not yet come to an end,” Condal teased in an interview with Variety in August.</p>

<p>House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022 and its second season came out in June 2024. The show is expected to continue for two more seasons, with season 3 set to begin production in 2025.</p>

Unfortunately, we ended up exactly where we were at the end of the first season; readying for war. There was only one thing that intrigued us, apart from the dragons of course.</p>

<p>While the show runs on the able shoulders of two very powerful queens, it is a very sexist world they reside in. Given we are dealing with queens and not kings in this George RR Martin outing, one would expect to see some powerful decisions made by the intelligent heads wearing the crowns. What we get instead is constant persecution of the two women on the basis of their gender.</p>

<h2><strong>Small Council, petty council</strong></h2>

<p>Both Queen Rhaenyra and Queen Dowager Alicent find themselves interrupted, questioned and doubted in their respective councils repeatedly. While Alicent proved her mettle for several years by reigning in place of her ailing husband, King Viserys, Rhaenyra too, is not just her father’s chosen heir, she’s also a just ruler and a fantastic dragon rider. And yet, both women are constantly second-guessed by their council members. On most occasions, Rhaenyra is questioned for choosing to wait and not start a mindless war by her Small Council, composed of all male members. And the decisions that she does take, like the Red Sowing, are met with doubt and protest. Infuriatingly, she is also asked if her husband, Prince Daemon, is in agreement with her policies.</p>

<p>Alicent deals with a different hell altogether. After successfully ruling in her husband’s stead as the Queen Regent for many years, Alicent finds herself increasingly ignored by the Team Green Small Council. On more occasions&nbsp;than one cares to count, Alicent is not even consulted in the strategies decided on by her council. From usurping the throne before informing Rhaenyra of her father’s passing to some of the battles in this season, Alicent is kept in the dark, even by Ser Criston Cole, her protector and lover. The worst insult comes from her son, the Prince Regent Aemond who relieves her of her Small Council duties altogether and asks her to ‘return to more domestic pursuits.’</p>

<h2><strong>Children who second-guess their mothers</strong></h2>

<p>Rhaenyra and Alicent have proven to be as womanly as the age and times of Westeros expect of them. They have birthed a steady brood of dashing youth. And yet, these very children second-guess their every move. Though Rhaenyra’s children fare better in this comparison, they are still sullen when not pacified.</p>

<p>Interestingly, Rhaenyra gave her father, King Viserys, plenty to worry about as a teenager. From running around the dark alleys of King’s Landing to flirting dangerously with her uncle, Prince Daemon (we know how that went), Rhaenyra found loyalty and unconditional love from her father in a place where daughters were hardly given their due. When it came to motherhood, however, things became complex for Rhaenyra. Her three sons grew up with people mocking their Targaryen legitimacy (black hair and strong features, anyone?). She held her ground and fiercely protected her cubs and yet, in the second season of the show, Jacaerys, her first born, gave her unsolicited advice more than once.</p>

<p>The idea to invite noble citizens with known Targaryen blood to try to claim the riderless dragons was actually Jace’s. And a great idea it was, until Rhaenyra decided to include the Targaryen bastards as well. With bastards being a touchy topic for Jacaerys, he decidedly spent the rest of his mother’s campaign sulking. He also second guessed his mother’s moves and wanted Daemon to hold fort, thinking his mother as somewhat weak for the position she was rewarded.</p>

<p>In King’s Landing, Alicent fared even more terribly than Rhaenyra. All we saw was blatant disrespect from the white-haired mean boys of the Queen Dowager. In the first season, we found Alicent paying a maid to keep her silence about the assault she faced from her firstborn, now King Aegon (or the usurper depending on which team you support). His rash decisions, like ordering the hanging of all the rat catchers of the palace, or going off to battle it out with Princess Rhaenys and her dragon Meleys, just to blow off his frustration at not being able to do any big damage to Rhaenyra’s forces, were all against Alicent’s wishes. While Aegon suffered a massive setback (spoilers!) for his whims, Alicent’s biggest opposition came from Prince Aemond, her second son and a notoriously ruthless war-mongering Targaryen who has a dark backstory.</p>

<p>Aemond was bullied by his brothers and even lost an eye in a violent fight as a child, a wrong he chose to never forget. As an adult, he builds on his skills and becomes a Valyrian-speaking, sword-wielding expert who also rides Westeros’ oldest and strongest dragon, Vhagar. To Alicent, Aemond is especially difficult as an unpredictable character whose bloodlust is hardly ever avenged. Her judgement is accurate enough - it is indeed Aemond who tosses her out of the Small Council, making her truly introspect on her role in the feuding dynasty for the first time ever.</p>

<h2><strong>Wearing burdensome identities</strong></h2>

<p>Ironically, while both women are seen lamenting their failure as mothers this season, it comes from a place of guilt men do not wander in even by mistake. When Alicent wonders to her brother, Gwayne Hightower, if it is her or the Red Keep that made her children this way, we wonder too – did the father, King Viserys ever stop to think what kind of sons he was raising by always favouring Rhaenyra, even when one had lost his eye? Or did the long-serving Hand of King Viserys, Ser Otto Hightower, ever sit and ponder his role in creating the mess that his daughter Alicent is. For years and years, she served her father’s interests and later fulfilled her wifely duties by first, marrying a much older man and then, tending to his illness for the better part of her youth. When she finally found some kind of independence and sexual release, she resented herself for it – after all, her conditioning and inner voice had always labelled Rhaenyra immoral for similar choices.</p>

<p>And then there’s Prince Daemon, the uncle-husband of Queen Rhaenyra, who for most part of this season, chose to claim the throne for himself. He went rogue, opted for vile war tactics and even claimed the Riverlands army. It is only when he is shown a super potent vision by the Harrenhal witch, Alys Rivers, did he come to terms with his place in the story.</p>

<p>While we may have to wait a solid two years for these complex but brilliant characters to come alive on our screens again, one thing is for sure, the women of the <em>House of the Dragon</em> have more than men and dragons to fight against.&nbsp;</p>

Or did the long-serving Hand of King Viserys, Ser Otto Hightower, ever sit and ponder his role in creating the mess that his daughter Alicent is. For years and years, she served her father’s interests and later fulfilled her wifely duties by first, marrying a much older man and then, tending to his illness for the better part of her youth. When she finally found some kind of independence and sexual release, she resented herself for it – after all, her conditioning and inner voice had always labelled Rhaenyra immoral for similar choices. And then there’s Prince Daemon, the uncle-husband of Queen Rhaenyra, who for most part of this season, chose to claim the throne for himself. He went rogue, opted for vile war tactics and even claimed the Riverlands army. It is only when he is shown a super potent vision by the Harrenhal witch, Alys Rivers, did he come to terms with his place in the story. While we may have to wait a solid two years for these complex but brilliant characters to come alive on our screens again, one thing is for sure, the women of the House of the Dragon have more than men and dragons to fight against. In one of his dreams, King Viserys reprimands Daemon for being too jubilant on being crowned King for a day when his family was grieving.</p>

The game for Iron Throne is finally warming up, now that the common people are involved.</p>

Season 2 episode 5 however did take into account a lot of things like the change in scene at King’s Landing, Harrenhal and Dragonstone.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys were felled in episode 4 of <em>House of the Dragon</em> by Aemond Targaryen and his dragon Vhagar, we expected the new episode to go a bit easy on our appetite. After all the King was down and the Greens were a dragon down. Returning victorious with a dragon’s head and a burnt King, all political dynamics changed with just one fight.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As for King Aegon II, he lost everything in that battle. Suffering from third-degree burns in episode 4 after being betrayed by his own kin, brother Aemond, Aegon II is left waiting for a kind death or a miraculous recovery. We don’t know which way we are truly headed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Coming to the visuals of that fight, Aegon II played by British actor Tom Glynn-Carney, revealed he had to go through six hours of sitting in the makeup chair to get the aesthetic of his look correct. <p>The viewers of the popular HBO show<em> House of the Dragon</em> have been left disgusted after the series aired a ‘disturbing’ scene in which a son was seen having sex with his mother.</p>

<p>The viewers who are horrified by the graphic incest sex scene in the series are now even questioning if it was needed.</p>

<p>In the explicit scene in question, the character Daemon Targaryen - who is played by Smith - was shown having a very sensual dream which involved his mother Alyssa Targaryen when he visited the haunted Harrenhal castle.</p>

<p>In the dream, Targaryen and his mother are seen standing naked in front of each other and the latter is then seen kissing his son's forehead romantically.&nbsp;</p>
