House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 Review: If you haven’t yet decided which side you’re on, this is the episode that will help you make your choice as war has begun, both sides have started gathering allies, are weighing their strength and are ready to meet each other’s death. The Greens have the advantage of King’s Landing army and Vhagar, the biggest dragon alive in Westeros while the Blacks have more dragons and all seniors are playing on behalf of Queen Rhaenyra.

After a dull and rather boring predecessor, episode 6 picks up speed on various fronts. King’s Landing and its people are finally demanding a fair King who listens to their needs, Queen Dowager Alicent gets a taste of their wrath with rising hunger in the Red Keep while in Dragonstone, Rhaenyra shuts down criticism and slaps Lord Celtigar for talking back and forgetting his place as she grows closer to Mysaria in more ways than one.

Aemond vs Aegon II: Who is the better King?

Also, Aemond who is acting as King Regent, comes face-to-face with Aegon II who is the reigning monarch, for the first time since he assumed power and since the battle of Rook’s Rest which changed his destiny. Their equation has obviously changed. The elder brother, bedridden with severe burns all over his body is now at the mercy of Aemond, who it seems will go to any length to prove himself as a better King.

Daemon and his hallucinations at Harrenhal

Prince Daemon (or shall we call him the self proclaimed King?) continues with his hallucinations in this episode too. After he saw his late mother in his controversial dream, he now sees late brother King Viserys. In one of his dreams, King Viserys reprimands Daemon for being too jubilant on being crowned King for a day when his family was grieving.

In another, Daemon is seen apologising for not being by King’s side when he needed his brother the most. We really want this episode to be the last episode for Daemon’s lacklustre presence in the show so far. Daemon deserves better, you House of the Dragon season 2 writers!

We need him to ride Caraxes into battle and mindfully at that.

Dragonstone: Queen Rhaenyra finally acts like a Queen

Meanwhile, Dragonstone seems like a fun place to be with Rhaenyra finally gaining her foothold. She is now listening to Mysaria and is winning the Red Keep, clawing at King’s Landing from within its factions. The game for Iron Throne is finally warming up, now that the common people are involved.

Also, there’s that kiss they share, which I don’t want to break down too much.

Rhaenyra

As decided in the last episode, Rhaenyra is now looking for dragonriders for her dragons since there are so many of them but they can't ride to battle. She starts with Ser Steffon Darklyn in this episode. On finding his Targaryen ancestral, she gives him a chance to become a dragonrider. He, obviously jumps at the idea. But things don't go to plan when Seasmoke doesn't have it and burns him alive.

Seasmoke, after the incident flies out and seeks another rider it seems towards the end of the show. We think it will be Sea Snake's bastard son, Addam of Hull, the brother of Alyn of Hull. The two are the bastard sons of Corlys Velaryon.

Meanwhile, the only thing that the Greens are doing better than the previous episodes is calling Otto Hightower to return as the Hand of King. Aemond asks Larys to call on Otto to King’s Landing. Because let’s face it, what is a King without his circle of wise councellors?
