Two people have been found dead by the Los Angeles authorities at filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner's Brentwood home. According to a TMZ report, the deceased are Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 68.

What happened at Brentwood home?

On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Fire Department received a medical aid call from the residence on Chadbourne Avenue. After reaching the location, firefighters found a man and a woman deceased inside the home. Soon, the Los Angeles Police Department was called, and the case is currently with the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division.

Cause of death

As per TMZ, the law enforcement has revealed that both individuals suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. No official further details have been released about the deaths yet, but it is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Several police officials were seen at the property throughout Sunday evening, and reportedly, neighbours told local media that the home belongs to Reiner and his wife, and property records list the couple as owners. No arrests or suspects have been announced yet.

Who was Rob Reiner?

Known for giving several iconic films, he was said to be one of Hollywood’s most influential figures. He won hearts with both acting and directing, along with producing some of the classic films of the past five decades. He was the son of renowned comedian and filmmaker Carl Reiner, who passed away in 2020.

Rob Reiner began his career in the 1960s with The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, in which he worked as a comedy writer. Then later got recognition in the 1970s as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family. The role earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Reiner entered into direction with the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, which gained him a lot of fame. In the coming years, he created several films, including Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, A Few Good Men, and more. He is also the co-founder of Castle Rock Entertainment, which has produced numerous hit films and television shows.

Rob Reiner's latest works

Reiner’s later work includes The American President, The Bucket List, LBJ, Shock and Awe, and the 2023 documentary Albert Brooks: Defending My Life. His last project is said to be Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which is a sequel to the cult classic.

About his wife, Michele Singer Reiner

His wife was a photographer, and the duo married in 1989. They first met while Reiner was directing When Harry Met Sally… and were married for more than 35 years. They shared three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy. The filmmaker also had a daughter, Tracy, from his first marriage to the late actress and director Penny Marshall.
