The Academy gives a shout-out to Deepika's Mastani
Deepika Padukone got a shout-out from The Academy recently and the Bollywood actress’fans couldn’t stop gushing. With some of the best films in the recent past and some noteworthy performances, Deepika Padukone has cemented her position as a top-performing actress in the Hindi film industry.
In a nod to her work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, Deepika was featured on the official page of The Academy. The film came out in 2015 and starred real-life couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. They were dating at the time.
The Academy shared a clip from the famous song of the film, “Deewani Mastani” which shows Deepika Padukone in her elaborate Mastani ensemble, dancing in theking’s court.
Taking to their official Instagram handle, the Academy shared a throwback clip of Deepika Padukone. This song also features Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

As soon as the video was spotted by fans, they couldn’t hide their excitement and congratulated the film’s team for making such a successful Indian film. Among the scores of compliments by fans, one particularly stood out – Ranveer Singh’s. The actress’s husband and a prolific actor himself, Ranveer Singh commented on the post and wrote, “mesmeric!” with a star emoji in the comments section.
As for the fans, one wrote, “Deepika as Mastani is iconic so mesmerizing, u can’t take your eyes off her.” Another fan wrote, “The beauty of Deepika in this song, I don’t think any other actress would be able to pull this off like her, this will go down as one of the greatest of all time in Hindi Cinema!!”
Another fan thanked the Academy and wrote, “Thank you for recognizing the most beautifully shot song of all time and the most talented actress.”
On the personal front, Deepika and Ranveer are expecting their first child together.
