The heart has been craving for a good old love story amid heavy actioners that Bollywood has been churning out for some time now. Amid the clutter of Pan-India gruesome bloodied action thrillers and sappy family dramas that the viewers have been fed the past few years, Anurag Basu's Metro...In Dino manages to break the clutter with a fresh take on the oldest emotion in the universe -Love.

Basu takes four distinct love stories set in cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and spins an intricate tale, typical of the filmmaker’s style of storytelling. The result is an engaging musical 2 hr 42 minutes long ride at theatres.

A spiritual successor of Basu’s 2007 urban drama, Life In a…Metro, Metro…In Dino adapts similar tropes of love and infidelity but gives a modern spin. Love and the concept of love has evolved leaps and bounds in the last 18 years. In the age of dating apps, social media posts and one-night stands, love, too, is more of a show and has a shelf life much like the Instagram stories. So, how does one keep at it? One has to keep falling in love again and again, says a character at one point.

The Plot

Kajol and Monty (Konkona and Pankaj Tripathi) are a middle-aged couple who have become bored in their relationship. Their life centers around their teenage daughter and office meetings. Kajol admits right in the beginning that the more boring her personal life gets, the more colourful her social media account becomes. Things take an ugly turn when she catches her husband on a dating app and then catfishes him into an embarrassing setup. On the brink of divorcing, she heads back to her parents’ place, leaving Monty high and dry and desperate to win her back.

Kajol’s younger sister Chumki (Sara Ali Khan), a self-confessed confused person, is all set to marry a ‘safe’ option. A man who shrugs too much and is never able to take a stand for her. A chance encounter with travel blogger Parth (Aditya Roy Kapur) makes her question her life choices. The man spews facts to Chumki but is a commitment-phobic, playboy man-child refusing to settle down.

Parth’s college friends Shruti (Fatima Sana Sheikh) and Akash (Ali Fazal) are much in love, married couple who have to now deal with an unplanned pregnancy. While Shruti is willing to go with the flow, Akash feels child and a regular corporate job will derail his dreams of becoming a musician.

Elsewhere, Kajol and Chumki’s mother, Shibani (Neena Gupta), is stuck in a dead-end relationship with her husband and the girls' father, Sanjeev (Saswata Chatterjee), for decades. He dictates and she listens- that's how her life has been all these years until a college reunion makes her meet her ex-boyfriend Parimal (Anupam Kher), a man she had truly loved but could never marry as he never fought for her and let her go.

Parimal is now a disgruntled man living a lonely life with his widowed daughter-in-law, Jhumki (Darshana Banik). While Parimal wants her to move on with life and remarry, the duties and promises made to her late husband stops Jhumki from leaving him. Parimal then takes a drastic step and offers a role of a lifetime to Shibani , a star on stage during her college years, to convince Jhumki to move on.

Comparisons to Life in a…Metro

When the first trailer of Metro…In Dino came out, a lot of loyal fans of Life In a…Metro felt that a spiritual sequel was not needed. Partly because the original still remains rent-free in everyone's mind, and partly because how different can the love stories be in the last 18 years? But Metro… In Dino is an important film for it talks of love, of compatibility, of second chances, and of companionship at a time when one chooses soul mates by swiping right. When projecting a happy image on social media becomes more important than being actually happy and content- Metro In Dino tries to assess how relationship dynamics have changed with time and how its important to keep making efforts in love.

Metro In Dino

A lot is told through the photos on the wall. Of friendship. Of past romances or familial bonds. Lines of realism and fiction get blurred easily in Basu’s films and he uses Pritam’s music as an important element to take the story forward. Pritam, along with Papon and Raghav Chaitanya, remains the constant spectator of the four different stories and their complexities. In a way, they are also the narrators who connect the missing dots for the viewers through their songs.

Basu’s films are mostly elaborate and Metro… In Dino, however much it may seem breezy in the first half, slows down in the second half, often appearing repetitive. There are loose ends too in plenty but Basu creates such a beautiful premise that one tends to overlook.

The cast is all pitch perfect, but it's Pankaj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma who stand out. Their story is also the most entertaining and the two actors deliver a stunning portrayal of a middle-aged couple who cannot live without each other but can't do with each other as well. Konkona, the only actor, who was part of the original film, shares a crackling chemistry with Pankaj Tripathi. When the first trailer had come out, most had missed Irrfan’s presence. His portrayal of an almost 40-year-old virgin in Life in A…Metro remains iconic to date. Pankaj Tripathi had big shoes to fill, but the man eases into the role of Monty Sisodia seamlessly, making the viewers crack up often through the film, much like late Irrfan Khan had in the original.

The other older couple- Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher, with support from Saswata Chatterjee too, are stunning. Gupta particularly shines in a portion when she gets to play act as a loud gold digger, to help Parimal with his family issues.

Fatima and Ali Fazal’s story is perhaps the most relatable as they play a couple torn between two cities, as they navigate personal ambitions and dreams. The younger lot will perhaps relate more to Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur’s track – unsure of committing, but ready to explore and meet new people.

A worthy sequel?

The beauty of Metro…In Dino lies in the fact that every character seems real and thus relatable. You will find a bit of Chumki or Shruti in you. You will know a Parth or a Parimal. You will understand Shibani's problems and nod in agreement to Kajol and Monty's marriage woes. Love is a universal emotion – it's not restricted to a certain age. It needs time and patience, and hard work to maintain that emotion for the same person year after year, and the film brilliantly highlights it. It also normalizes the mundanity that comes along with marriage and kids, but never shuns the idea of settling.

Is it a worthy sequel to Life In a…Metro? Yes. The film explores the complexities that come along with the emotion of love, gives a hat tip to the original (look out for the sequence of Sara Ali Khan screaming out loud to vent her frustration), makes you hum along with Pritam’s soulful music and in the process makes you root for love stories once again.

Go watch Metro…In Dino, it breaks the clutter of regressive, gruesome actioners and provides for a wholesome feeling, that has been missing in Bollywood for some time now.

The bond between KD and Ballu will fill your heart with warmth and tenderness and keep your smile intact throughout the whole film.

What works and what doesn't?

Director Madhumita did a fantastic job with this Hindi remake, just as she did with the original 2019 movie KD. The Hindi version is full of emotional depth. However, when comparing the two films, the Tamil version takes the first spot as it captures the emotions in a more raw manner, making the story impactful. Without any melodrama, the movie acknowledges human pain and suffering casually, without any glorification.

With a simplistic tone, the movie doen't impress much. While you will enjoy Bachchan and Dhaivik's chemistry, the story falters at several points. It demands a lot of focus, as the viewer may find themselves confused by the story, and many things feel unnecessary, not contributing much to the film.

While all the focus is on Abishek and Daivik, needless to say, both have given their hundred per cent. Bachchan played the middle-aged man in a few of his recent films in a prolific way, and here too, he's authentic. In this film, he has let his expressions speak for him. Daivik is fantastic, entertaining, cheeky and full of charm.

One thing I genuinely appreciate about Bachchan is how he's embracing his age in films. He’s not trying to be an unrealistic hero who single-handedly beats up dozens of goons but instead chooses to play relatable characters. However, the other talents in the film don’t get enough screen time. For example, Ayyub’s character appears throughout the film but doesn’t have much to do.

All in all, Kaalidhar Laapata is not a ‘wow’, but it will make you smile with its story.

Kaalidhar Laapata is streaming on Zee5

Kaalidhar Laapata review: Abhishek Bachchan and Daivik Bhagela's film is a sweet tale of lost and found bonds

Abhishek Bachchan's Kaalidhar Laapata is a sweet film that gives you poignant feelings. From the start, you feel for the characters. At the same time, you are left curious, thinking where the story is heading. Director Madhumita has brought the Hindi version of her Tamil film, KD A Karuppa Durai. While her intentions were good, with an impactful story. But the question remains, does it make Kaalidhar Laapata a good film? Let's find out What is Kaalidhar Laapata's plot? A remake of the Tamil movie KD, this Hindi version is set in Madhya Pradesh. The story revolves around Kaalidhar (Bachchan), a 6-foot-tall man, who is found standing in the middle of the road, causing a traffic jam. Suffering from memory loss, he is seen as a burden by his two brothers and a sister-in-law. He also has a sister who genuinely cares about him. To get rid of Kaalidhar and his medical bills, his family plans to take over his property and decides to leave him at Khumb, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, known for people getting lost. However everything goes wrong and ironically, the same family that wanted to get rid of him ends up desperately trying to find him. Meanwhile, Subodh (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who works at a lost and found stall at the Kumbh, gets intentionally involved in the missing case. Will he be able to find him is another story. On the other hand, Kaalidhar overhears his family's intentions and decides to leave everyone and move on. Deeply Hurt, he ends up in a small town, where he meets Ballu (Daivik Bhagela), a clever orpah boy. The two, both lost in their ways and disappointed with the world, find comfort in each other and end up becoming one another's everything. Will Kaalidhar ever be found? Or will he and Ballu create their little happy world? To find the answer, you’ll have to watch the film.

The highly anticipated first teaser of director Namit Malhotra's Ramayana: The Introduction is out, offering audiences their first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Yash as Ravana. The teaser provides a brief introduction to the epic of Ramayana set across the stars, beautifully accompanied by the music of legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer. The teaser then reveals the star-studded cast, which includes Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Kunal Kapoor as Indra Dev, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara.

Stunning visuals and epic scale

Viewers are treated to a few quick glimpses of Yash’s Ravana, wearing a cloak and walking along what appears to be a rocky shore. We also see Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram in the forest during his exile, wielding his bow. The teaser looks promising, and hopefully, the film can do justice to the epic and succeed where Adipurush failed.

Massive teaser launch and budget

The teaser was launched simultaneously across nine cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, and Kochi during press events. Ramayana is based on the Indian epic and tells the story of Prince Ram and his war against the demon king Ravana of Lanka. The film is one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. With a reported budget of ₹835 crores ($97.4 million), it is one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced and will be released in two parts.

Backed by an international team

The music for the film will be composed by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Legendary stunt director Guy Norris, who has worked on films like Mad Max and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, will also be working on the project. Ramayana: The Introduction is currently in post-production and is expected to hit the big screen in November 2026, while Ramayana: The Conclusion is being filmed and is slated for release in November 2027.

What’s striking is how perfectly the bag replicates an auto-rickshaw. Crafted with Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram canvas, it features handles, a windshield, and even the miniature three tiers of an actual rickshaw, though it’s unclear if the tiers are movable.

Internet is in shock!

Louis Vuitton's reimagination of India’s iconic auto-rickshaw has sent shockwaves across the internet, with netizens wondering about the cost of this quirky fashion accessory. Some even question whether this bag will cost more than an autorickshaw.

One user wrote,''They are trying to hit the Indian / Asian market lol.''

Meanwhile the Louis Vuitton Autorickshaw Bag is here, seemingly inspired by the Yellow Black autorickshaws from India. pic.twitter.com/YhA4jLvpcc
— Udit Kulshrestha (@uditkulshrestha) June 28, 2025

However, an Instagram user commented,''Will it cost as much as autorickshaw?''

LV dropped an auto-rickshaw bag & my brain cells are doing a dangal. 🤯 Is my rickshaw bhai about to be a style icon now?!
Third user wrote, ''Did they call this a Tuk Tuk or Rickshaw, I am so curious 😂.''

This is not the first time that the fashion house has made quirky and unique bags. Earlier, we have seen LV's bags in the shape of planes, dolphins and lobsters.

The quirky handbag, now going viral, is seemingly inspired by the India's auto-rickshaw, the three-wheeler found on the streets of every Indian city and used by the public for daily travel.

Just weeks after Prada’s Kolhapuri sandal took the fashion world by surprise, another unexpected accessory is here, this time it is from luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. The latest buzz on the internet is all about a handbag, which we can also call an auto-rickshaw bag. The bag is not only raising eyebrows but also makes many wonder where these luxury fashion houses are getting their ideas from. Louis Vuitton’s Auto-Rickshaw Bag The quirky handbag, now going viral, is seemingly inspired by the India's auto-rickshaw, the three-wheeler found on the streets of every Indian city and used by the public for daily travel. The bag is part of Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The bag caught the internet's attention after it was shared on a popular Instagram handle, Diet Paratha. Sharing a montage video of the bag, they wrote, ‘’Did this bag just colonise me? Jokingggggg… NRIs are gonna go crazy for this one tho. Really wish they had showcased this on the runway last night. I spotted it on top of a shelf during the re-see this morning.”

Panchayat began streaming on Amazon Prime in 2020, when half of the world was locked inside their homes due to COVID-19. While the show's simplistic village tone won over the audience, among all the elements, the character that struck the right chord was Binod; Ashok Pathak was the man who played the role. With his line, "Dekh raha hai Binod," and his curious expressions, Ashok's character became a viral meme moment.

Five years and four seasons later, the show remains one of the fan-favourite series. In this article, we will talk about Ashok’s journey and his story of struggle, from selling cotton to walking the red carpet.

Born and background

Born on January 3, 1985, in Darveshpur, a small village in Bihar’s Siwan district, Ashok’s childhood was full of hardship. His father reportedly worked as a fireman in coal furnaces, and his uncle used to sell cotton. From a young age, Ashok used to sell cotton himself, earning no more than Rs 100 a day. Later, he moved with his family to Hisar, a town in Haryana, to build a better future.

How Binod from Panchayat became an actor?

After finishing school, Ashok joined a local college, where he discovered his passion for theatre and acting. He started participating in numerous cultural festivals and plays.

“My father (Ram Naresh Pathak) was a daily wager, who lived in a village. I was poor in studies. On sifarish, I got admission in CRM Jat College for graduation but that changed my life. In the youth festival, I won the best actor award and we went on to win at the national level as well. I got awarded by (actor) Ashutosh Rana sir. My photo was everywhere (in the newspapers) which was a big deal and phir pariwar ne kaha... ‘Kar bhai jo bhi karna hai’,” he told Hindustan Times.

This Panchayat actor sold cotton for Rs 100 a day, read his inspiring journey

Born and background Born on January 3, 1985, in Darveshpur, a small village in Bihar’s Siwan district, Ashok’s childhood was full of hardship.
