On Sept 11, Malaika and Amrita's father Anil allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of a building in Bandra, Mumbai.
As per the reports, it has been said that Anil's last call was to her two daughters. He told them, "I'm sick and tired."
In a statement to Mumbai Police, Joyce, who was present at the home when her ex-husband Anil allegedly committed suicide, said that Anil had a routine of reading the morning newspaper and sitting on the balcony every morning. However, on the day of the incident, she noticed Anil's slippers in the living room around 9 am, after which she went to the balcony looking for him.
When she leaned over the balcony railing to look below, she saw the building’s watchman was shouting for help.
"That was when I realised something was wrong," she reportedly told the police.
Malika and Amrita's parents, Joyce and Anil, parted ways when Malaika was just 11 years old and her sister Amrita was 6. Despite being divorced, the couple started living together again over the past few years.
