MI camp in disarray? Star players avoid Hardik Pandya as he comes to bat in nets: Report
Hardik Pandya has been seemingly left alone in the MI camp
All is not well in the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp as factions continue to emerge ever since Hardik Pandya returned to the franchise as the new captain. It has now been reported that Rohit Sharma and Pandya are not even practising with each other in the middle.
A report in Dainik Jagran has claimed that Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma got up and left the space as soon as Hardik came out to bat in the nets. The incident transpired before the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) which MI lost after failing to chase a 158-run target.
Prior tothe match, Rohit was sitting on the sidelines with Suryakumar and Tilak when Hardik came out to bat. Seeing the captain walk out for practice, the trio reportedly got up and walked to the other side of the ground.
Meeting held to discuss Pandya's captaincy
Additionally, Rohit's chat with the KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar went viral on social media, showing that there was friction in the MI dressing camp. The chat seemingly confirmed that it was Rohit's last year with MI as he sought to move to a new franchise during the mega auction.

Another recent report in Indian Express, citing sources close to MI claimed that senior Indian players of the team, viz. Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit and Suryakumar held a meeting, voicing their displeasure overPandya'sstyle of captaincy, suggesting that the team had lost its joy and morale as the season dragged on.
The source said the meeting was necessitatedas the team that was captained by Rohit for the last10years,was still coming to terms with the change of guard.
“These are regular teething problems for a team that sees leadership change.Thishappens in sports all the time,”an MI official said.

Pandya faces criticism
Pandya has invited criticism from pundits for not having a Plan B when things go south for him. Additionally, his tendency to single out players has not gone down well within the MI camp.
Notably, afterMI'sloss toDelhi Capitals, Pandya said Tilak should have targeted Axar Patel more and attributed the defeat to a lack of game knowledge.
However,Pandya'scriticism felt misplaced as VarmaremainsMumbai'shighest run-scorer this season and had a fantastic inning, scoring 63 runs off of 32 deliveries.
MI will now face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday (May 17) at the Wankhede Stadium in what will be their final game of the season.
