SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) recorded the fastest run chase in T20 history as they chased the target of 167 in 9.4 overs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday (May 8) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.For SRH, Travis Head scored 89 not out off 30 balls while Abhishek Sharma scored unbeaten 75 off 28 balls as they won by 10 wickets.
Head hit eight fours and eight sixes in his innings during which he reached his fifty off just 16 balls. Abhishek, on the other hand, smashed eight fours and six sixes as well, reaching his fifty in just 19 balls. The duo also scored 107 runs in the powerplay - the second most ever in the first six overs of the IPL. The record of most runs in the IPL history of 125 runs also belongs to SRH.

The duo spared no LSG bowlers with Krishnappa Gowtham being the most economical - going at 14.50 runs per over in two overs his bowled. Apart from him, Ravi Bishnoi was hit for 34 runs in two overs, Yash Thakur got hit for 47 runs in 2.4 overs, Naveen-ul-Haq went for 37 runs in two overs while Ayush Badoni was the costliest of all - going for 19 runs in his only over.
Earlier, LSG skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first in Hyderabad. The decision was proven wrong quickly as Quinton de Kock, who return to the side, went back in the third over with just 13 on the scorer board. LSG lost Marcus Stoinis in the powerplay as well and closed the first six overs at 27/2.
Rahul, who made an impressive 33-ball 29, was the third wicket to fall with LSG being 57/3 at the halfway mark. Krunal Pandya was next to go as LSG lost four wickets for 66 runs. Nicholas Pooran (not out 48 off 26) and Badoni (unbeaten 55 off 30) then added 99 runs - the most for fifth wicket for LSG as the team finished at 165/4 in 20 overs.
