India Champions beat Pakistan Champions in World Championship of Legends Final on Saturday (Jul 13) in Birmingham, England and Pak skipper Younis Khan was made to eat his words.

Khan, after beating Indian Champions in the league stage, had said: "We took the revenge by defeating India," referring to Pakistan's loss to India in the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup.

While India went on to win the T20 World Cup, India Champions also beat Pakistan Champions to win the WCL trophy.

Speaking after the match, Younis said: "Congratulations to India, they played like true legends."

"They excelled in all three departments. Our game plan was to build a defendable total, but crucial partnerships are essential in finals. India formed the partnerships needed to chase down our score, something we failed to do, unlike in the semi-finals where we had strong partnerships," he added.

Batting first, Pakistan Champions scored 156/6 in 20 overs. Shoaib Malik top scored for them with 41 off 36 balls while opener Kamran Akmal hit 24 off 19. Anureet Singh was the pick of bowlers for India Champions with 3/43 in his quota of four overs.

During the chase, Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu gave India a flying start, adding 34 runs in two and a half overs. Aamer Yamin then took Uthappa and Suresh Raina out in the same over to peg India back.

Rayudu was next to get out after scoring 50 after adding 60 runs with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (34) as India needed 59 in last nine overs.

Yusuf Pathan played handy innings of 30 off 16 and added 42 crucial runs with skipper Yuvraj Singh (15 not out) as India touched 150 in the 19th over. Yusuf's brother Irfan Pathan hit the winning runs as India Champions chased the total down in 19.1 overs and won by five wickets.
