IND vs NZ, 2nd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal breaks THIS record amid poor show by other batters

India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the only shining spot during the ongoing horrible home Test series against New Zealand. The 22-year-old left-hand batter has broken multiple records and equaled some in Test cricket after scoring 30 runs in the first innings and 77 in the 2nd innings of the Pune Test.
With his first innings 30 runs, Jaiswal became the youngest India batter to score 1000 Test runs at home in a calendar year, overtaking Dilip Vengsarkar who was aged 23 in 1979 when he reached 1000 Test runs at home.
The Southpaw also joined an exclusive club of four other batters across the world who had scored 1000 Test runs in a calendar year before turning 23.
Before Jaiswal, West Indies great Gary Sobers (1,193 runs in 1958), South Africans Graeme Smith (1,198 runs in 2003) & AB de Villiers (1,008 runs in 2005) and former England skipper Alastair Cook (1,013 runs in 2006) had achieved this feat.
Jaiswal also scored his 1000 home Test runs faster than any other Indian batter - taking just 1,315 ball to reach the milestone. Before him, Virender Sehwag held the record for scoring fastest first 1000 runs in home Test in 1,436 balls.

India, however, had a bad day as a unit and were bowled out for just 156 runs in their first innings in reply of New Zealand's 259.
In the second innings, the Kiwis posted 255 and set India a huge target of 359 runs in the fourth innings on a turning and bouncing Pune pitch.
Chasing the target, India lost skipper skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply again before Shubman Gill (23) and Jaiswal, who score 77, added 62 runs for the second wicket.
The Kiwis, however, struck after lunch and took six wickets of Gill, Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant bringing India down to seven wickets for just 178 runs in total at tea on day 3 (Oct 26).
