The Hamas warning comes as Israel on Wednesday (Apr 17) announced that it had converted 30 per cent of Gaza into a buffer zone as it pressed its unrelenting military offensive, vowing to maintain its blockade on humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged territory.

"With a $53.2 billion endowment, Harvard can fund its own chaos - DHS won't," Noem said in the letter, alleging that there was an 'anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology' in the university.
"If Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students," Noem warned.

After years of negotiations, the world finally has an accord on how to tackle future pandemics, and avoid the mistakes made during the COVID-19 crisis.
After more than three years of talks and one last marathon session, countries around the world agreed on the landmark accord at the World Health Organization's headquarters at around 2:00 am (0000 GMT) Wednesday (Apr 16).
<h2>A significant milestone</h2>
Lauding the accord, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus hailed it as a "significant milestone in our shared journey towards a safer world".

The landmark agreement comes five years after the Covid-19 pandemic killed millions of people, devastated economies and upturned health systems and as new threats -- including H5N1 bird flu, measles, mpox and Ebola lurk.
<h2>Key features of the agreement</h2>
At the heart of the accord is the proposed Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing System (PABS), a mechanism to enable rapid sharing of pathogen samples and genetic data with pharmaceutical companies. The aim is to accelerate the development of tests, vaccines, and treatments in the early stages of future outbreaks.
One of the most contentious points of the accord was Article 11, which addresses the transfer of pandemic health technology to developing countries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, poorer nations had accused the rich ones of hoarding vaccines.&nbsp;

Now, after prolonged debates, a compromise has been reached that allows for such transfers on a "mutually agreed" basis.
All 32 pages of the document were approved unanimously. "It's adopted," announced negotiations co-chair Anne-Claire Amprou, prompting a standing ovation from diplomats and observers.
"In drafting this historic agreement, the countries of the world have demonstrated their shared commitment to preventing and protecting everyone, everywhere, from future pandemic threats."
The accord will now be formally presented for adoption at the WHO's annual assembly next month.

"For 50 years, the ESA has saved numerous species -- including iconic American species like bald eagles, gray wolves, Florida manatees, and humpback whales -- from extinction," the group said in a statement. "One key to this success has been its definition of harm, which recognizes the common-sense concept that destroying a forest, beach, river, or wetland that a species relies on for survival constitutes harm to that species".

On Wednesday, the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad released a video of an Israeli-German hostage, showing him alive and appealing to Israeli authorities and US President Donald Trump to secure his release.
His family and Israeli media identified him as Rom Braslavski from Jerusalem, who was abducted by militants from the Nova music festival during Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Katz announced that Israel would continue preventing aid from entering the besieged territory of 2.4 million people.
Israel had already halted the entry of aid into Gaza on March 2, exacerbating the severe humanitarian crisis in the war-battered territory.
"Israel's policy is clear: no humanitarian aid will enter Gaza, and blocking this aid is one of the main pressure levers preventing Hamas from using it as a tool with the population," Katz said.
Medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Israeli military operations and the aid blockade had transformed Gaza into a graveyard for Palestinians and aid workers.
"Gaza has been turned into a mass grave of Palestinians and those coming to their assistance," said MSF coordinator Amande Bazerolle.
"With nowhere safe for Palestinians or those trying to help them, the humanitarian response is severely struggling under the weight of insecurity and critical supply shortages, leaving people with few, if any, options for accessing care," she said.
On Wednesday, the UN reported estimates that "about half a million people have been newly displaced or uprooted once more" in Gaza since March 18.
The world body had warned on Monday that Gaza was facing its most severe humanitarian crisis since the war began in October 2023.
"The humanitarian situation is now likely the worst it has been in the 18 months since the outbreak of hostilities," said the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
<h2><hl2>ICJ hearings</hl2></h2>
Israel controls the entry of all aid and supplies to Gaza.
On April 28, the International Court of Justice is set to open hearings on Israel's humanitarian obligations towards Palestinians.
The UN General Assembly approved a resolution in December requesting that The Hague-based top court give an advisory opinion on the matter.

&ldquo;The first project will be for setting up computer classes in a school and this can open the way for bigger projects linked to Ukraine&rsquo;s reconstruction. It is important because India usually does such projects in neighbouring countries but this is being mirrored in Ukraine. We are deeply grateful for such support,&rdquo; Polishchuk said.

She spoke of how her confidence and everything else took a hit, and her 20s and 30s were quite tough for her to take on. She said, "It was really not a positive relationship for me at all. He cared a lot about how I looked and said a lot of things about it to me, and that really is not okay. It really is not."
