US presidential election: Kamala Harris accepts Democrats' prez nomination. Who is she?
A look at who Kamala Harris is.
United States (US) Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday (Aug 22)accepted theDemocratic Party's 2024 presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.
"On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination for president of the United States,"Harrissaid to the roars of Democrats at the convention.
Harris became the Democrats' presidential candidate after President Joe Biden stepped down from the White House race and endorsed her. She would be facing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the November 5 election.

> Kamala Harris was sworn in as vice president on January 20, 2021. She is the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American to be elected to this position, according to the White House.
