On the final day of the election campaign, Republican presidential nominee and former US president Donald Trump ascended the stage in Raleigh, North Carolina amid roaring applause and announced that the presidential race is "ours to lose”.

The presidential nominee sounded a little hoarse but was full of vigour when he appealed to his supporters to help him close this election cycle with a victory in the elections.

“Hopefully everything will work out well, we’re way leading, all we have to do is close it out. If we get everybody out and vote there’s not a thing they can do," said Trump.

The Republican presidential nominee started his final rally in the battleground state with discussions about the elections, in which he claimed that he was leading.

He said that he decided to visit North Carolina on the eve of the election to appeal to residents to vote. “Here’s my only purpose in even being here today: Get out and vote,” said Trump.

Trump criticised the incumbent Biden administration over the issue of immigration and attacked Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris over the issue of illegal immigration.

Hailing his relation with Puerto Rico, two weeks after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called it as a “floating island of garbage" in his rally, Trump said, “I mean Puerto Rico is great. We helped Puerto Rico more than anybody."

Trump recalls ‘Access Hollywood’ video

Speaking at the event, Trump made reference to the video which had almost turned his 2016 campaign into a failure.

“See, I’ve gotten much better. Years ago I would have said something else. But I’ve learned. I would have been a little bit more risqué," said Trump as the crowd broke out in laughter in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The “Access Hollywood” tape of Trump, in which he was heard speaking about grabbing the genitals of women, had almost derailed his 2016 election campaign.

After the election campaign in Raleigh, Trump is likely to head to Pennsylvania.

According to the CNN poll published last week, Harris had 48 per cent of estimated voters and Trump had 47 per cent of them in North Carolina, which suggested no one candidate was in the lead.
