Saudi authorities say settlement in anti-corruption crackdown valued at $106 billion

Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday that anti-corruption settlements have generated an estimated 400 billion riyal ($106.7 billion), according to a statement issued by the government’s information office.

Attorney General Sheikh Saud AlMojeb also said that the settlement represented in various types of assets, including real estate, commercial entities, securities, cash and other assets.

He said the total number of subpoenaed individuals reached 381, and 65 remained in custody.

However, the statement of Mojeb doesn't disclose further details of the real states or commercial entities that have been acquired.

Media reported on January 27 that several prominent businessmen including MBC network owner Waleed al-IbrahimFawaz Alhokair, former chief of royal court Khalid al-Tuwaijri former head of the country's meteorology and environmental protection agency, Turki bin Nasser; have reached a financial settlement with Saudi Arabian authorities.

However, the conditions of the settlements were not revealed.

Earlier in November 2017, dozens of princes and businessmen were detained in corruption crackdown launched by crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

They were accused of crimes such as money laundering, bribery and extortion.
