At least 10 Palestinians were killed and 20 others were injured in an Israeli strike on a United Nations-run Gaza school on Saturday (Nov 16). The strike targeted the Shati refugee camp which is currently sheltering displaced families and people.
Gaza health officials said the UN-run Abu Assi school was struck and people may still be buried under the rubble. Authorities said the rescue operations were still going on. Israel is yet to comment on the incident.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported Saturday that two rockets were fired at the Jewish nation from the northern Gaza Strip and both were intercepted. Palestinian officials said a total of 30 people were killed by the Israeli military on Saturday in several incidents on Saturday.
According to the Gaza health ministry, 43,799 people have died in the Gaza Strip so far since the conflict began on October 7, 2023.
Israeli soldiers on Saturday reached their deepest point in Lebanon since the invasion began almost six weeks ago; however, they were forced to retreat after facing attacks from Hezbollah fighters.
"Troops captured a strategic hill in the southern Lebanese village of Chamaa, five kilometres (three miles) from the Israeli border early Saturday", the state-run National News Agency reported.
Israeli forces targeted the Shrine of Shimon the Prophet in Chamaa, as well as several homes, before they withdrew, the news report said.
Israel’s military said in a statement that its troops “continue their limited, localized, and targeted operational activity in southern Lebanon”.
The push on the ground came as Israeli warplanes pounded Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as several other areas in southern Lebanon, including the port city of Tyre.
