As governor, Walz has promoted a progressive agenda, which features free school meals, climate change goals, tax cuts for the middle class, and extended paid leave for workers in Minnesota. While Walz has consistently supported women's reproductive rights, he has also shown a more conservative side during his time in the USHouse, where he supported agricultural interests and gun rights.

“These are weird people on the other side. They want to take books away. They want to be in your exam room. Don’t sugarcoat this, these are weird ideas. Listen to them speak, listen to how they talk about things,”Tim Walz said in an interview with MSNBC in July, referringto book bans and women's reproductive consultations with doctors.

Earlier, the Democratic nominee was said to be deciding between two candidates: Pennsylvania's Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz.

Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 and announced plans to hold another rally there soon.
