Delta reviewing how man allegedly followed a family, boarded their flight without ticket

Delta Air Lines said on Friday (Aug 16) that it was reviewing how a manwho allegedly followed a family around the terminalboarded the family’s plane earlier this month without a ticket for the flight. A report by the news agency Associated Press said that theincident happened at Washington Dulles International Airport.

In a statement, Delta said it had"processes in place for gate agents and flight crews to verify that individuals onboard aircraft prior to departure are customers that are booked on that particular flight."

The alleged stalking

Speaking to American media,Lauren Benton said that she noticed a man who appeared to be following her, her husband and their two children. Benton said that the man also followed her into a women's restroom.

She said when they boarded the plane, the man followed and sat down in their row.

Benton added that her husband confronted the manand a flight attendant asked to see his boarding pass, which he was unable to produce.

Man removed from aircraft

The Associated Press report said that the man was removed from the flight. The transportation security administration said he had valid identification proof anda boarding pass for a later flight, explaining how he got past the checkpoint.

No charges were imposed on the man.

Benton pointed out that she was questioning the man's intentions the entire time "and I know that child trafficking is absolutely a growing problem here in the United States and so that was the first thing that came to mind."

She said that her children were scared due to the incident, adding, she wasfrustrated with the lack of response.
