A look at the state of Arkansas

Arkansas is a landlocked state in the southern US. It borders Missouri to the north, Tennessee and Mississippi to the east, Louisiana to the south, Texas to the southwest, and Oklahoma to the west.

As per the 2020 census, the state has a population of just over three million. According to an October 4 report by the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, there were 1,811,667 eligible registered voters in the state.

September 30 was the last day for residents to register to vote in time for the presidential election.

When it comes to early voting in Arkansas, 290,084 mail-in and early in-person votes have been cast and 22,804 mail-in ballots requested, according to NBC News.

The top contenders in this state were Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and Jill Stein (Green Party).

Earlier this month, a poll by the Hendrix College and Talk Business Politics revealed that Harris was just 10 points behind Trump in Arkansas.

A total of 35 Senate seats in Arkansas were up for election on November 5. Republican incumbents in seven contested Arkansas Senate races won their respective elections. Here's a look at the data

How many House of Representatives seats are going for election in the state? Who are the candidates?

The election for the House of Representatives were also held on November 5 to elect representatives from all the 435 congressional districts. All congressional districts in Arkansas were won by Republicans

First congressional district:

Results released by the National Election Pool (NEP) showed that Republican Rick Crawford won the district by securing 194,365 votes. Democrat Rodney Govens won 63,889 votes while Libertarian Steven Parsons secured 8,331 votes. 

Second congressional district:

Incumbent Republican French Hill won the seat again after securing 180,229 votes, followed by army veteran and Democratic leader Marcus Jones who secured 125,395 votes, NEP data showed.

Third congressional district:

The top candidates in the third congressional district were Steve Womack (Republican Party), Caitlin Draper (Democratic Party), and Bobby Wilson (Libertarian Party).

Womack won the election with 191,788 votes. Draper and Wilson secured 95,396 and 13,305 votes respectively. 

Fourth congressional district:

The fourth congressional district represents most of south Arkansas and parts of the state's northwestern region. The top contenders here were Bruce Westerman (Republican Party), Risie Howard (Democratic Party).

Again Republicans emerged victorious in the congressional district. Westerman won the election with 195,234 votes while Howard could secure 72,244 votes. 

Who won the 2020 presidential election?

In 2020, Arkansas voted for Donald Trump by a 27.6-point margin. This was the sixth biggest margin for Trump among the 50 states, NBC News reported. 

Results of 2024 election

Republican Donald Trump emerged victorious in Arkansas after securing 758,523 votes. Kamala Harris secured 395,716 votes
