Advisors have reportedly urged former United States president andRepublican presidential nominee Donald Trump to declare victory prematurely if he has sufficient lead in key swing states like Pennsylvania, The Guardian reported citing people close to him.
According to the report, the general consensus among the Trump team is that the former president has nothing to lose if he makes a victory announcement based on a lead of several hundred thousand votes in swing states. Trump has been advised to make a similar announcement if his internal pollsters give him the green light, even before the results of the 2024 presidential electionsare officially declared.

WhileTrump talked to reporters Tuesday, he stressed he had a very “substantial lead.”
“It looks like we have a very substantial lead. It looks like we have many more Republicans voting than Democrats. So if you have a lead and a bigger vote it means you’re doing well but they have to call a winner. And they should call a winner,” Trump said, adding, “I don’t know what’s going to happen in terms of declaring victory.”
On the other hand, Trump has also been warned against declaring victory in case of a close contest. Former White House strategist Steven Bannon reportedly warned Trump it may make him look foolish if he does so without any clarity.

Nonetheless, Trump has largely kept quiet on his plans on the election night, against his open declaration in 2020 when he allegedly told his allies and friends he would declare victory no matter what the official results said.
Earlier, former US National Security Adviser John Bolton and Senator Bernie Sanders warned that Trump will declare himself winner early.
Bolton, while answering a question on BBC Newsnight, said 'Of course, not' when asked if Trump would accept the loss.
“I’m predicting between 9 and 10 o’clock, he’ll announce that he’s won and hope that the states in the West — Arizona, Nevada, where polls will still be open — might be susceptible to what he has to say,” Bolton said.
