Side Effects of Eating White Bread Everyday

The consumption of white bread on a daily basis may lead to detrimental health effects owing to the highly processed flour and additives it contains. Overindulgence in white bread is associated with the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

White bread undergoes a bleaching process involving chemicals, where natural oils are extracted to enhance its longevity. This process diminishes the nutritional value of the flour used.

The bleaching process leads to the loss of healthy fibre, vitamins, and minerals in white bread. The refined grains in the bread can convert into sugar, potentially contributing to diabetes.

Recent research, published in the June 2015 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, indicates a correlation between the consumption of refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, and depression in post-menopausal women. This suggests that regular intake of white bread may have a negative impact on mood.

7 Easy-to-grow Plants in Your Kitchen Garden

To grow tomatoes, choose a spot that gets ample sunlight. Take a few tomato seeds and put them in paper cups. Fill the cups with soil and let the plant germinate. After the tomato plant grows, replant it in a bigger pot. The tomato plants need to be watered every day, sometimes twice.

To grow coriander, soak some coriander seeds in water overnight, next day drain the water and spread these soaked seeds in a pot with fertile soil. Ensure the pot is placed in good sunlight. Water it every alternate day until you see the shoot grow into a beautiful plant.

Ginger grows out of the small cuttings of the ginger roots. The plant requires no sunlight as such, it grows in shade and requires daylight alone. The roots as well as the leaves are packed with flavours.

Curry leaves grow both out of cuttings and seeds. It is believed that pouring unsalted thin buttermilk in the pot in which the curry leaf plant is planted helps the plant grow really well.

The lemon plant grows in shade in daylight but does not require too much sunlight or water. Its flower buds bloom and the petals wither away leaving behind the lemons. A healthy lemon plant will give you lemons in absolute abundance.

Chillies need a good amount of water and sunlight and are grown from the seeds directly. From red, green, yellow and black to varieties like fresco, tabasco, and jalapeno, all of them can be grown at home.

Mint is another plant that is very easy to grow in the backyard of your home. It usually grows from tender cuttings of stems that are planted in the soil, and once the stems begin to grow, they rapidly spread to the surface of the soil.

7 Side Effects of Eating Too Much Garlic

The liver, responsible for blood purification, fat metabolism, protein metabolism, and ammonia removal, faces potential toxicity due to allicin, a compound abundantly present in garlic when consumed excessively.

Fresh garlic intake on an empty stomach, as highlighted by the National Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School reports, may result in heartburn, accompanied by nausea and vomiting, due to specific compounds promoting GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).

Excessive garlic consumption contributes to persistent bad breath, primarily attributed to sulfur compounds inherent in garlic.

Garlic's blood-thinning properties pose a risk when combined with medications such as aspirin and warfarin, potentially leading to hazardous internal complications.

Prolonged and excessive consumption of garlic has been associated with dizziness, with the sulfur compounds in garlic being the primary contributing factor.

Clinical studies indicate that prolonged garlic consumption may result in increased sweating.

For those dealing with vaginal yeast infection, it is advisable to refrain from eating too much garlic as it has the potential to worsen the condition by irritating the delicate tissues of the vagina.

Reasons Why You Should Not Drink Water While Standing

Drinking water while standing up affects our digestive system, it slows the nervous system and the standing position increases the speed of the water going into the body which may cause health conditions.

According to Ayurveda, water entering the body forcefully while standing disturbs fluid balance, leading to indigestion. Ayurvedic experts emphasize the benefits of sitting while drinking water.

Ayurvedic specialists warn that drinking water while standing can result in water accumulation in joints, potentially causing arthritis. The imbalance in fluid and increased toxin accumulation exacerbates arthritis issues.

Standing water intake accelerates its passage through the system, posing risks to lung and heart functions. This rapid transit also disrupts oxygen levels, leaving thirst unsatisfied.

Nutrient absorption is compromised when water is consumed standing, leading to joint problems. Accumulation of water in joints can cause knee pain and related issues.

Research indicates that optimal kidney filtration occurs when sitting. Standing and drinking water may allow fluid to pass without filtration to the lower stomach under high pressure, potentially contributing to kidney problems.

The intensity of air pollution is increasing in Delhi and with winter around the corner the conditions may deteriorate further. Here are a few reasons why air pollution in Delhi gets so bad.

Delhi shares its border with the states of Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. One of the main reasons for increasing air pollution is stubble burning by the farmers in these states.

Another contributing reason is pollution caused by the traffic menace in Delhi. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) have declared vehicular emissions as a major contributor to Delhi's increasing air pollution.

Delhi falls under one of the major industrial regions of India, i.e. Gurgaon-Delhi-Meerut Industrial Region. The industries that have the potential to affect air quality are chemical, steel, cement, mining, thermal power plants, etc and most of them can be found in this region.

Construction activities in Delhi-NCR are another reason that contributes to the increasing dust and pollution in the air.

Due to stagnant winds in winter, pollutants present in the air get locked and affect weather conditions, resulting in smog.

The flat plan where Delhi sits is circumscribed by the chain of mighty Himalayas and hills that block the movement of air. So, when smoke and dust build up, they immediately suspend and remain hanging in the air.

Here are causes of air pollution in delhi

Why Is Air Pollution So Bad In Delhi?

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Motivational Quotes

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was an Indian aerospace scientist who also served as the 11th president of the country from 2002 to 2007. He was known as the ‘Missile Man of India’ and was a prolific writer who penned several books. Here are some of his famous motivational quotes:

Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.

If you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun.

If four things are followed — having a great aim, acquiring knowledge, hard work, and perseverance — then anything can be achieved.

Climbing to the top demands strength, whether it is to the top of Mount Everest or to the top of your career.

Don’t take rest after your first victory because if you fail in second, more lips are waiting to say that your first victory was just luck.

To become ‘unique’, the challenge is to fight the hardest battle which anyone can imagine until you reach your destination.

Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place — the unique you. Have an aim in life, continuously acquire knowledge, work hard, and have perseverance to realise the great life.

Determination is the power that sees us through all our frustrations and obstacles. It helps us in building our willpower which is the very basis of success.

World Students Day: APJ Abdul Kalam's inspirational quotes.

Reasons Of Heart Attack While On Treadmill

If you are not used to regular physical activity, you can put extra stress on your heart. This can lead to an acute heart attack. So, it is advisable to begin your fitness journey slowly.

One of the possible reasons is the underlying disease such as coronary artery disease (CAD), which narrows the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle. Exercise can stress your heart if you push yourself hard and if there's reduced blood flow due to blockages in these vessels, it can trigger a heart attack.

Never be on the treadmill if you are stressed as it causes a surge in stress hormones like adrenalin, which can put extra strain on your heart.

Inadequate hydration can lead to thicker blood, making it harder for the heart to pump which in as a result can trigger a cardiac event.

Warm-up is necessary as sudden, intense activity can increase heart rate and blood pressure, which can strain the heart.

Poor treadmill usage such as excessive speed and improper posture can strain the heart.

Eating spicy food close to bedtime keeps you awake and disturbs the sleep pattern. You may also feel irritation in your oesophagus as spicy food triggers extra secretion of acid.

Caffeinated foods and beverages keep you awake too. It is good to cut off intake of carbonated beverages before going to sleep as it can also disrupt digestion.

Eating foods high in fat, like fried chicken and fatty meats, may contribute to poor sleep. Fried and fatty foods also disrupt digestion during the night.

One of the main reasons of disturbed sleep at night is the increased stomach acid production. To reduce it, it is better to avoid acidic foods, fast foods and other ultra-processed foods at night.

Trying to fall asleep with a full belly is far from comfortable, and continuing digestion through the night requires energy. Eating larger lunches and lighter dinners tends to help promote sleep.

Research shows that drinking alcohol before bed is more likely to keep you awake all night. Alcohol can also lead to snoring since it is a potent muscle relaxer.
