Sri Lanka-bound 6 Kg Gold Seized Near Tamil Nadu, Two-wheeler Used in Smuggling
Police on Thursday thwarted an attempt to smuggle about 6 kilogram of gold to Sri Lanka through Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district, and arrested one person. Acting on a tip that gold was being smuggled to Sri Lanka by boat, Q Branch personnel maintained intense surveillance in the Vedaranyam coastal region on Thursday. That was when they spotted a man proceeding suspiciously on a two-wheeler from Aarukattuthurai, and intercepted him near Vizhundhamavadi village on the Vedaranyam-Nagapattinam main road.
