China has established its first overseas atmospheric monitoring station in the Larsemann Hills of East Antarctica, a milestone in its polar research initiatives. The Zhongshan National Atmospheric Background Station, which began operations on Sunday, will track atmospheric composition and contribute to global climate change research.
