The medical staff there suggested she be taken to a hospital in the mainland, about 50 miles away. The coast guard then took her inside the helicopter but before touchdown, Jennie Trevethick gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Spain's traditional Christmas lottery known as 'El Gordo' on Thursday rewarded many winners across several regions.

The winners of the Christmas lottery include a Peruvian-born unemployed mother of two and a Gambian man who crossed the Mediterranean by boat and eventually reached Spain in 2017. 
 
The first prize in the lottery was awarded to holders of ticket number 05490. The proceeds of this ticket number are $425,000 (€400,000), or around $345,150 (€325,000) after taxes. 
 
The second prize was given to ticket number 04074 and its holders will get around $132,750 (€125,000), according to a report by El Pais on Thursday. The third prize goes to ticket number 45250 and its holders will get around $53,100 (€50,000).

The Peruvian-born mother, identified as Perla Gavidia, was immediately surrounded by reporters after her ticket number was announced. Gavidia said that she lost her job at a cafe in 2020 and bought 95 tickets, only one of which had the winning number- 05490, news agency Reuters reported. 
 
The woman, standing beside her two children, told reporters that she would spend the proceeds that amount to $425,000 before taxes on buying a new house, educating her children and also making a donation to the Catholic Church. 
 
In Catalonia, Ibrahim Cante originally from Gambia had ticket number 04074- which was given the second prize in the lottery. A musician by profession, Cante said he would invest the proceeds of $132,750 in a studio, according to the Guardian. He added that this was the first time he bought a lottery ticket since arriving in Spain.

The total prize money in 'El Gordo' reached $2.67 billion (€2.52 billion) compared to $2.55 billion (€2.41 billion) last year. In a nationally televised lottery draw at the Teatro Real opera house in Madrid on Thursday, young pupils from the San Ildefonso school picked the winning numbers and sang them out to the audience 
 
'El Gordo' has been happening since 1812 when Spain was under French occupation during the Napoleonic Wars. The lottery was designed to raise funds to fight the war. 
 
Ticket sales begin months ahead of the draw and for weeks before the winners are announced, there are long queues outside lottery offices. The lottery holds significance as Spain, like many countries in Europe, faces a cost-of-living crisis and stagnating wages.

A musician by profession, Cante said he would invest the proceeds of $132,750 in a studio, according to the Guardian. He added that this was the first time he bought a lottery ticket since arriving in Spain. The Alsatian mix went missing more than a year ago in West Sacramento, California.&nbsp;O'Neil was in shock as she got the news of his&nbsp;homecoming.

O'Neil named her dog after&nbsp;her favourite band, Led Zeppelin. She said that he is&nbsp;a friendly dog and&nbsp;used to visit a construction site near the house where workers used to give him treats. After getting pets and treats, he would come home, or the owner fetched him. However, one evening, O'Neil could not find Zeppelin anywhere, not&nbsp;even in his regular zones.

This battle cannot be frozen or postponed. It cannot be ignored hoping that the ocean or something else will provide a protection.

From the United States to China, from Europe to Latin America, and from Africa to Australia – the world is too interconnected and interdependent to allow someone to stay aside – and at the same time – to feel safe when such a battle continues.

Our two nations are Allies in this battle.

Yesterday – before coming here to Washington DC – I was at the frontline, in our Bakhmut. In our stronghold in the East of Ukraine – in the Donbas.

The Russian military and mercenaries have been attacking Bakhmut non-stop since May. They have been attacking it day and night. But Bakhmut stands.

Last year seventy thousand people lived there in Bakhmut and now only few civilians stay.

Every inch of that land is soaked in blood. Roaring guns sound every hour. Trenches in the Donbas change hands several times a day in fierce combat and even hand fighting. But the Ukrainian Donbas stands.

Russians use everything they have against Bakhmut and our other beautiful cities.

The occupiers have a significant advantage in artillery. They have an advantage in ammunition. They have much more missiles and planes than we ever had.

But our Defense Forces stand. And we all are proud of them.

The Russian tactic is primitive. They burn down and destroy everything they see. They sent thugs to the frontlines. They sent convicts to the war...

They threw everything against us – similar to the other tyranny, which in the Battle of the Bulge threw everything it had against the free world. Just like the brave American soldiers, which held their lines and fought back Hitler’s forces during the Christmas of 1944, brave Ukrainian soldiers are doing the same to Putin’s forces this Christmas. Ukraine holds its lines and will never surrender!

So, here is the frontline – the tyranny, which has no lack of cruelty – against the lives of free people.

And your support is crucial – not just to stand in such fights, but to get to the turning point. To win on the battlefield.

We have artillery. Yes. Thank you. Is it enough? Honestly, not really. To ensure Bakhmut is not just a stronghold that holds back the Russian army – but for the Russian army to completely pull out – more cannons and shells are needed.

If so, just like the battle of Saratoga, the fight for Bakhmut will change the trajectory of our war for independence and freedom.

If your «Patriots» stop the Russian terror against our cities, it will let Ukrainian patriots work to the full to defend our freedom.

When Russia cannot reach our cities by its artillery, it tries to destroy them with missile attacks. More than that, Russia found an Ally in its genocidal policy – Iran.

Iranian deadly drones, sent to Russia in hundreds, became a threat to our critical infrastructure. That is how one terrorist has found the other. It is just a matter of time – when they will strike against your other allies, if we do not stop them now. We must do it!

I believe there should be no taboos between us in our alliance. Ukraine never asked the American soldiers to fight on our land instead of us. I assure you that Ukrainian soldiers can perfectly operate American tanks and planes themselves.

Financial assistance is also critically important. And I would like to thank you for both, financial packages you have already provided us with, and the ones you may be willing to decide on. Your money is not charity. It's an investment in the global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way. &nbsp;

Russia could stop its aggression if it wanted to, but you can speed up our victory. I know it.

And it will prove to any potential aggressor that no one can succeed in breaking national borders, committing atrocities and reigning over people against their will.

It would be naive to wait for steps towards peace from Russia – which enjoys being a terrorist state. Russians are still poisoned by the Kremlin.

The restoration of international legal order is our joint task. We need peace. Ukraine has already offered proposals, which I just discussed with President Biden – our Peace Formula.

Ten points, which should and must be implemented for our joint security – guaranteed for decades ahead.

And the Summit, which can be held.

I am glad to stress that President Biden supported our peace initiative today. Each of you, ladies and gentlemen, can assist in its implementation – to ensure that America’s leadership remains solid, bicameral and bipartisan.

You can strengthen sanctions to make Russia feel how ruinous its aggression truly is.

It is in your power to help us bring to justice everyone, who started this unprovoked and criminal war. Let's do it!

In two days, we will celebrate Christmas. Maybe, candlelit. Not because it is more romantic. But because there will be no electricity. Millions won't have neither heating nor running water. We do not judge and compare whose life is easier.

Your well-being is the product of your national security – the result of your struggle for independence and your many victories.

We, Ukrainians, will also go through our war of independence and freedom with dignity and success.

We'll celebrate Christmas – and even if there is no electricity, the light of our faith in ourselves will not be put out. If Russian missiles attack us – we'll do our best to protect ourselves. If they attack us with Iranian drones and our people will have to go to bomb shelters on Christmas eve – Ukrainians will still sit down at a holiday table and cheer up each other. It is a Christmas miracle that Zeppelin, a three-year-old German shepherd mix who went missing last year, is about to reunite with his family.

A few weeks ago, Zeppelin's owner Sandra O'Neil received a call from the company that makes the microchip implanted in the dog. They informed her that someone found him wandering on a woman's property in Kansas, 1,600 miles from his hometown, California.

The Alsation mix went missing more than a year ago in West Sacramento, California, NPR reported. O'Neil was in shock as she got the news of its homecoming. Zeppelin, named after his owner's favourite band, Led Zeppelin, made a sudden appearance after a year 1,600 miles away from California, in Kansas, without any possible explanation.

According to the owner, Zeppelin is a friendly dog. In 2021, he used to visit a construction site near his house where the workers gave him treats. Every day after getting pets and treats, he would come home, or the owner fetched him. However, one evening, O'Neil could not find Zeppelin, even in his regular zones.

Before he went missing, Zeppelin fathered a litter of puppies. They were only a few weeks old when he disappeared. O'Neil kept two of them, Angus and Sweet Pea, while she gave away the most.

O'Neil was in shock as she got the news of its homecoming. Zeppelin, named after his owner's favourite band, Led Zeppelin, made a sudden appearance after a year 1,600 miles away from California, in Kansas, without any possible explanation. According to the owner, Zeppelin is a friendly dog. In 2021, he used to visit a construction site near his house where the workers gave him treats. Every day after getting pets and treats, he would come home, or the owner fetched him. However, one evening, O'Neil could not find Zeppelin, even in his regular zones. Before he went missing, Zeppelin fathered a litter of puppies. They were only a few weeks old when he disappeared. O'Neil kept two of them, Angus and Sweet Pea, while she gave away the most. Mary Hastings, a Californian woman, has volunteered to drive Zeppelin home. The family have missed having him around and is delighted to have him back. A report by the Daily Mail on Monday said the videos from December 1 showed white lights zipping across the sky over the rolling farmland near West Bend and Fredonia.&nbsp;The lights, which were moving at an incredible speed and appeared to have come from above the thin cloud layer on the night of December 1, left witnesses believing that they saw a UFO. The Daily Mail obtained the videos from two Wisconsin residents — Kimberly and Ken.&nbsp;

Kimberly, who is a salon owner from West Bend, shared videos of the possible UFO sighting after she saw bright lights flashing over the sky while she was driving on a rural road in West Bend at around 10.45 pm on December 1.&nbsp;

Videos shared by these two Wisconsin residents captured a moment where four of the lights appear in a row and a fifth light, flying from the left, joins the formation, the Daily Mail report on Monday said.&nbsp;

Another resident of the US state- Andrea Lynn, also saw these strange lights in the sky on December 1. Taking to Facebook, Lynn shared four videos of the sighting outside her house about 80 miles north in Howard.

These lights were seen in Wisconsin on December 2 as well. About 35 miles away in Greenfield, Chris Novak was travelling with his family in a car to the Candy Cane Lane lights in West Allis. Novak's wife alerted him about odd lights in the sky as the car was heading north on Interstate 43 over the Fox River overpass at about 6.55 pm on December 2, the report added. &nbsp;

This news of a possible UFO sighting in the US comes as the Pentagon received several hundreds of new UFO reports but there was no evidence of alien life so far. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), a new Pentagon office, was set up in July this year to track unidentified objects in the sky, underwater or in space.

Last Friday,&nbsp;the AARO's director Dr Sean Kirkpatrick told reporters that the Pentagon received several hundreds of new UFO reports. Dr Kirkpatrick did not rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial life and said he was taking a scientific approach to the research.&nbsp;

A critically endangered species of reptile endemic to a sole island on the Ecuadorean archipelago is making a miraculous comeback. Scientists have maybe for the first time discovered hatchlings and "juvenile" populations of the Galapagos pink land iguana.

The species which was first discovered decades ago has been accorded the critically endangered species status as according to estimates published on the&nbsp;Galápagos Conservancy there are only 200 individuals left and all of them are confined to the slopes of Wolf Volcano on Isabela island.&nbsp;

Furthermore, they are made especially vulnerable by the fact that the volcano is active. Another threat to the population as per Reuters is alien species, particularly rodents that were introduced to the island.

As per Danny Rueda, Director of the Galapagos National Park, the discovery "marks a significant step forward, which allows us to identify a path going forward to save the pink iguana."

An American pet dog got a surprise of a lifetime when it was sent to Saudi Arabia instead of its owner's home accidentally.&nbsp;A five-year-old dog named Bluebell was travelling to Nashville from London with its human family when it was mistakenly flown off to Saudi Arabia by British Airways. The dog owner, Madison Miller, was given the wrong dog in Nashville by the airport authorities.&nbsp;

The Millers were eventually shown a picture of Bluebell, who was unhappy in its crate and thousands of miles away. Bluebell was finally returned to the Millers three days later.

Miller told a local TV station, "They said this has never happened before – we don’t even understand how it could happen because there are so many safety checks in place."&nbsp;

They further added,&nbsp;"During her time with us she received refreshments frequently and had time outside to stretch her legs – including regular walks and eight hours with the team at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre who cared for her. Despite these measures, we understand that this has been an upsetting situation for Bluebell and her owners and remain in contact with them to resolve the situation".&nbsp;

According to the survey commissioned by Texas-based Motel 6 and conducted by London-headquartered OnePoll, 75 per cent of the respondents hit a point when they need time away from the family. One in four respondents choose to hide in a relative's house to take a moment alone, while 37 per cent choose to make an excuse and leave the house altogether.

For 40 per cent Americans, staying with family during holidays is stressful

While 95 per cent of American people believe that it's important to spend holidays with family, about 40 per cent of the Americans planning to stay with family admit that it is a stressful experience.

An average respondent was found to be staying with family for 3.5 days. For hosting family, nearly 40 per cent said that they find sleeping arrangements as one of the most stressful parts of preparing the household for guests.

When staying with family, the top concerns were found to be a lack of privacy (22 per cent), family getting on your nerves (20 per cent), and drama between family members (20 per cent). That’s in addition to feeling like they’re imposing (19 per cent) and having the house be too loud or busy (18 per cent).

Staying with family during holidays is ‘cheaper and more convenient'

The survey showed that two of the top reasons Americans stay with family during the holidays are because it is "cheaper and more convenient."

Police in Italy used a customised Lamborghini supercar to deliver two kidneys to the patients on Tuesday hundreds of kilometres apart, it was announced.&nbsp;

"Travelling on the motorway to deliver the most beautiful Christmas present: life," the police said in a statement posted on social media, along with a picture of a medical cool box in a purpose-built compartment at the front of the Lamborghini Huracan.

"Thanks to the State Police's special Father Christmas, two people have received the gift of a kidney," the statement added.&nbsp;

Police in Italy use Lamborghini to transport organs to people hundred miles apart

A 17-year-old boy named Tobias Jacob Brewer aka Toby is accused of trying to kill his mother and beating her with a frying pan as she asked him to clean his room.&nbsp;

According to the probable cause affidavit, the teenager repeatedly stabbed his mother with a pocket knife, Fox 35 Orlando reported.&nbsp;

Toby was arrested on Nov 30 and taken into custody after he allegedly attacked his mother and&nbsp;led police on a chase.&nbsp;

When the police authorities rea hed his home, they found his mother laying on the floor and said, "Toby did this."

On Monday his arrest report was released sharing details of this attack.&nbsp;

According to the report, Toby told detectives that he stabbed his mother multiple times and hit her head with a frying pan until his handle broke.&nbsp;

The report said, "The suspect advised that he does not like cleaning his room and was tired of the victim (his mom) constantly harping about it."&nbsp;

Toby reportedly also admitted that he texted one of his friends about the attack and asked him to bring a gun to shoot his mom. His friend, who has autism said that he can bring a knife instead of a rifle.&nbsp;

He was also accused of leading authorities on a chase with two of his friends and his girlfriends. The chase ended on Dec 1 after the car crashed into a wooden&nbsp;area.&nbsp;

According to the report, the mother is in critical condition right now.&nbsp;

Toby was arrested on Nov 30 and taken into custody after he allegedly attacked his mother and led police on a chase. Toby reportedly also admitted that he texted one of his friends about the attack and asked him to bring a gun to shoot his mom. His friend, who has autism said that he can bring a knife instead of a rifle. He was also accused of leading authorities on a chase with two of his friends and his girlfriends. A new survey on deteriorating mental health of LGBTQ+ youth has revealed that over 50 per cent of transgender and non-binary individuals in the United States seriously considered suicide in the past 12 months. The survey was conducted on a state level&nbsp;and the data was released on Thursday which revealed that states like Texas, Arkansas, New York and California showed high rates of suicide.&nbsp;

The survey led by the American nonprofit organisation Trevor Project showed over 34,000 queer and trans youth between 13 and 24 years of age showed an alarming rate of suicide attempts, depression and anxiety, The Guardian reported.&nbsp;

It also showed that 70 per cent of the LGBTQ+ youth faced discrimination, with 62 per cent saying that they were not able to access mental health care.&nbsp;

The highest rate of trans and nonbinary youth seriously considering&nbsp;to attempt suicide&nbsp;were 56 per cent in Texas, 54 per cent in Florida, 54 per cent in Pennsylvania, 51 per cent in Illinois, and 54 per cent in Ohio.&nbsp;

Additionally, these states reported 16-20 per cent of trans and non-binary youth attempting suicide.&nbsp;
