A woman who opened a shop in China only about three months back was forced to shut down because of rowdy behaviour by men. The shop owner made headlines for wearing skimpy outfits to work and went viral on social media. Her pictures started circulating on the internet a few weeks back, Red Star News reported.

She was running a small supermarket in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, and became popular because of her clothing choice. Pictures clicked by customers showed her wearing bright, figure-hugging, low-cut dresses. The shop saw a lot of footfall from male customers.

However, people in the area had a problem with the way she dressed and complained to the police. They argue that her clothes were provocative and inappropriate for her job. One of the persons who complained, reportedly another supermarket owner in the area, told the police that she dressed that way to attract more customers.

One official said that no action can be taken against her because she can choose to wear what she likes. Police paid her a visit but left without taking any action because she wasn't doing anything illegal. However, they asked her to be careful with what she wore.

Following this, she switched to more orthodox clothes, but to her dismay, the attention didn't stop. More men kept pouring into her shop. They stayed there hoping to talk to her. Some even tried to take videos of her, but she refused.

One of these encounters supposedly led to an altercation which left her physically hurt. On August 17, she said on her social media, "Many people came to bully me. A man even hit me, making my hand bleed."

The police report said that the man shoved her and they settled the matter mutually.

However, the woman has now shut shop and is selling her business.

Social media users have mixed reactions to the saga, with some of them supporting her for her clothing choices, while others criticise her.

“I don’t see any problems with her clothing. If showing too much flesh in public is wrong, why do the police not close swimming pools for pornography because of the skimpy costumes?” a user wrote on Baidu.
