A guest has sued a hotel in Las Vegas after he got stung by a scorpion on his testicles during his stay after the animal made it to his bed.

The man has said that the incident has left him with trauma and PTSD and his wife has complained that their sex life has changed drastically after the incident. 

The man, who is a resident of Agora Hills, California, was staying at The Venetian post-Christmas last year when the stinging incident took place.

The 62-year-old Michael Farchi said that the scorpion allegedly crawled into his bed and inserted his stinger into his private part as he felt he was being stabbed by a “sharp glass or a knife.”

Farchi also took the images of the scorpion which stung him as evidence. Last week, he sued the hotel and claimed that he had suffered emotional trauma and PTSD because of the incident, as reported by 8 News Now in Las Vegas.

“I can also indicate, as you saw in the complaint, we’re also making a claim for loss of consortium for Mr. Farchi’s wife,” stated attorney Brian Virag, while referring to the claims of the victim's wife that their sex life deteriorated.

Beyond that, the hotel “owed a duty of care to Plaintiffs to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary room that was free of vermin, bed bugs, or similar things, including scorpions,” said the attorney in the Aug. 27 lawsuit.

Man claims hotel staff made fun of him after the incident

Farchi said that the luxury resort was aware of an “infestation of poisonous, deadly scorpions,” as per the suit.

“From our understanding, there was some ongoing construction at the time that this incident happened — just before the incident happened and the time the incident happened,” said Virag.

Farchi is waiting for a jury trial to make a decision over whether the hotel needs to compensate the man for the damages, pain, suffering and mental distress.

On December 2026, Farchi said he woke up after experiencing excruciating pain in his groin.

“I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area,” said Farchi, while speaking to 8 News Now. “It felt like a sharp glass or a knife," he added.

He said that when he went to the bathroom to check on himself he saw a scorpion “hanging on my underwear.”

He claimed that he informed the hotel staff that he was “bitten by a scorpion on my groin/testicles.”

But he said that the hotel staff did not take him seriously and mocked him. “(They were) just holding their groin area and laughing about it. It was really embarrassing," he said.
