Furries are a group of people who have an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters, that is, animals who walk, talk and act like humans. They dress up like animals, and there is mostly a sexual connotation to them. Now, a new "fitness" trend around this has emerged, although followers dismiss claims that the two are interlinked. It is known as "Quadrobics", where people put on animal masks and walk on all fours. The wildly bizarre fitness trend has people jumping around like animals. Besides the furries, there are people who identify as animals and have been seen dressed as dogs and cats, complete with a leash held by another person, their "master." Such people belong to therianthropy, a community of people who identify as nonhuman. However, followers of Quadrobics stress they are completely different from both these groups - therians and furries. They say the fitness trend is not about pretending to be animals, but about how physically strenuous walking on all fours is. A TikToker told New York Post that she saw visible results after getting on the Quadrobics fitness trend.
Getting a piece of stone to plop through water multiple times is an actual sport in Scotland, where the World Stone Skimming Competition is held every year. Over 2,200 people from 27 countries reached the island of Easdale to participate in what is a legitimate international sport. However, even something like this has not been left free from controversy, as the current edition has accusations of cheating swirling around. The “world’s first dedicated stone skimming arena" is located at a slate quarry that flooded in 1881. The competition has been held here since 1983. The rules state that for the stone skimming contest, only unaltered stones selected from among the island’s naturally occurring slate should be used. Each rock should be under three inches wide, and its dimensions are checked using a device called the “ring of truth”. Each participant gets three skims, all of which must bounce at least twice to qualify towards their cumulative score. A Corsica air traffic controller fell asleep while waiting for a plane from Paris. He was alone in the tower, and no one else could reach him. Airport officials had to contact the police to help ascend the tower. They finally managed to wake him up.

A plane flying from Paris to Corsica could not land on time and was forced to stay in the air for several minutes after the air traffic controller dozed off. France's civil aviation authority revealed on Wednesday that the Air Corsica flight, carrying tourists, was forced to hover over the airport for 18 minutes. The plane was coming from Paris Orly airport and was supposed to land in Ajaccio. It was flying in circles above the Mediterranean Sea for so long that officials considered diverting the plane to Bastia, a port city on the other side of the island. The airport's fire crew had a hard time getting in touch with the air traffic controller, who was asleep. They ultimately contacted the police and were finally able to climb the tower and wake up the sleeping ATC. Also Read: Engine failure forces London-Beijing flight to land in remote Siberia.
Alan Ball sent a postcard home in Illinois from the United Nations during a trip in 1953 as a 16-year-old. The letter was only recently delivered to his home, 72 years later, the New York Times reported. Ball was on his way to Puerto Rico to spend the summer with his aunt. He first took a train to New York, where he visited the UN headquarters. There, he got a postcard and paid 2 cents as postage “We are now in the U.N. bldg. — extremely modern throughout,” he wrote in the postcard. However, the postcard never reached his home in Ottawa, Illinois. But now he has finally received the letter, not in Illinois, but in Idaho, where he has been living for 30 years. Ball was shocked when a letter carrier handed him the postcard in Sandpoint, his current home. The 88-year-old told NYT that he had "totally forgotten" about it.
A woman in Florida gave birth to an unusually large baby on September 3. Daniella Hines was surprised to see that she had delivered a baby boy who weighed 13 pounds, 15 ounces ( approx 6.2 kg). The newborn became an instant celebrity at BayCare’s St. Joseph's Hospital-South in Riverview. After all, it is not every day that one gets to see such a big baby. A typical newborn weighs around 7 lb, making Hines' boy Annan nearly double that of a regular baby. “He was the talk of the maternity ward!” Hines, 40, tells TODAY.com. The hospital told the broadcaster that Annan is the biggest baby ever born at the hospital, according to past records. Both Hines and her husband, Andre Sr, are over 6 feet tall. Their firstborn, Andre Jr, also weighed 12 pounds, 11 ounces.

Also Read: Shocking!
An American who goes by the name immi.grateful on Instagram recently posted a video about the workers he saw at the London Heathrow airport. In the video, he says that as he looks around the airport, all he sees are Indians working and not a single British person. "I just landed in London, I am at the airport, and I keep walking around the centre of the airport, and I don't see any British people working. Not one. Every single one of them is Indian." The influencer understands that what he is saying might come across as racism, and so he quickly adds, "There are going to be people out there saying, 'oh it's racism', but it's not. It's absolutely OK to ask the question - how did Britain, the country that literally was the pinnacle of freedom in the West, the country that gave us free speech and democracy, turn into what it is today?"

"Absolutely zero British people working, and this is wild to me, especially because I am an immigrant myself. If I walk around America, all I want to see are Americans. I don't want every person that I see working to be somebody else," he says. On his Insta page, the man describes himself as "Conservative Politics & Immigration Education, with a touch of western lifestyle." His post was flooded with mixed comments. A user wrote, "They are working and pay taxes. I don't see the problem." Meanwhile, another pointed out that not all brown people are Indians. "Not broen man is indian btw for you they pakistani, bangladeshi ,nepali, etc but you labelled them indian. Tell me are all white man are brits ?? (sic)," a user asked.

An American influencer is inviting criticism for saying that everyone working at the London Heathrow airport is “Indian.” In a video on Instagram, he questioned how Britain let this happen. People jumped in with their opinions, pointing out why there are no British people there.

It's absolutely OK to ask the question - how did Britain, the country that literally was the pinnacle of freedom in the West, the country that gave us free speech and democracy, turn into what it is today?" "Absolutely zero British people working, and this is wild to me, especially because I am an immigrant myself.

A man in Indianapolis, on a digging spree around his house to remove a rock poking out of the ground, stumbled upon a piece of history. He was stunned to see that he was living on top of an Ice Age rock, that was easily 12,000 to 15,000 years old. Brendan Dudas was unable to properly mow his lawn because of this hindrance, and so decided to remove the piece once and for all. He told People magazine that he was motivated by seeing a guy on TikTok called @TheLawnTools who was always digging out boulders. So he decided to bring in a tractor and started the job. But he was not prepared for what soon started to unravel. He noticed that the rock was bigger than he had imagined. Dudas continued to dig around it, but did not find the edges. Stumped to see an unending rock, he knew that it needed some heavy lifting. He even asked people on social media for solutions, who suggested he get a crane to lift it.

However, Dudas wasn't sure how far the rock extended, and if it ran under the foundation of his house and his neighbour's, then that would weaken the structures. He decided to get into the crane company, which suggested a safer way. Dudas went with it, and the crane surprisingly pulled out a 4,672 kg boulder. An analysis showed the rock was at least 12,000 years old, and could even be much older. It is believed to belong to the last major Ice Age. This was the Last Glacial Period, and occurred approximately 115,000 to 11,700 years ago.

Also Read: You won’t believe what Hyderabad is building for ₹225 crore! A massive boulder from around the end of the last Ice Age was discovered in Indianapolis by a man digging through his yard. What he thought would be a small digging job turned into a major endeavour, which revealed the rock.

His historic discovery has led to others around him also digging up their yards to see if a piece of treasure resides under their house.

The Madonna di Trevignano effigy has attracted thousands of devotees ever since news started swirling that the statue is miraculous.
A delivery driver in China saved a woman after he found a pillow with the number "110" scribbled on the roadside near a residential building. He was on a food delivery run when he came across the white pillow. The woman has been stuck in her bedroom for 30 hours without food or water. The incident happened on August 12 in Sichuan province, southwestern China. The driver, surnamed Zhang, is a university student who was on a summer job. He saw 110 written on the pillow in dark red colour, along with the number 625. He instantly knew that someone was in danger and so called the police. The number 110 is an emergency number in China. The police needed to figure out where the pillow had come from. They contacted the employee of a nearby hotel who recognised the design of the pillow. It had come from the homestay on the 25th floor of Building 6 - so the number 625.
Shocking findings of a study on a substance administered to treat diseases like malaria show that it turns organs blue. Researchers at University Hospital Frankfurt in Germany were conducting an autopsy on a 72-year-old man when they saw that his brain was blue. They reviewed the medical records at the hospital from 2000 to 2023, looking for 'blue-green,' 'greenish,' or 'turquoise' organs spotted during autopsies. They came across 11 such cases where either methylene blue or toluidine blue had been administered before their deaths. Further, multiple doses were given to some of them within 10 hours of death. In all cases, the colour of the brain and heart had changed.
A man in China is being slammed online for his devious and inhumane act against his pet dog. He found some wild mushrooms, which he fed to his dogs to check if they were fine to eat. While the dog lost its appetite, the man's entire family ended up in the hospital. The incident happened in China’s Sichuan province, where a 74-year-old man found wild mushrooms growing on his herb farm on July 13. He took them home, but wanted to be sure that they were not poisonous before eating them. The pet dog lost its appetite but did not fall sick. The man thought the mushrooms were fine and so fed them to his family. Even though they were unsure about eating them, they consumed a few of them, but fell sick hours later.

His son, Jiang, told Shandian News that the mushrooms looked similar to the termite mushrooms found at their local store. However, there was a chance that they were poisonous. But he got greedy and did not want to leave the mushroom. So he came up with a plan. He cooked the mushrooms and fed them to his dog to check if they were poisonous.
Doctors in India have reported about the case of a man whose eye was afflicted with a parasitic roundworm, and how the juices from his eye had to be sucked out to remove the worm. The case study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine last week. This particular roundworm usually affects dogs and cats. However, the 35-year-old man became an accidental victim of the roundworm that lives in carnivorous mammal hosts like cats. He had been suffering from blurry vision and a red eye for eight months. When he visited a local ophthalmology clinic, the doctors noticed extensive inflammation in the eye. Closer inspection revealed the culprit - a squiggly worm "moving sluggishly" in the back of the eye. Removing the roundworm proved to be a major task. To gain access to the worm, a pars plana vitrectomy had to be performed. The procedure requires the eye’s internal jelly-like vitreous humor to be sucked out. The worm was finally removed and identified as Gnathostoma spinigerum, a parasitic nematode.

Also Read: Toothbrush injury triggers stroke and deadly infection risk in Japanese man

How do roundworms enter human body?

It had caused a condition called ocular gnathostomiasis which can lead to the infected person losing their vision.
This week, at least six WNBA games have been interrupted by neon green sex toys being thrown on the court. A cryptocurrency group has claimed responsibility for the strange act and plans on continuing to fling more of them in the coming games. USA Today reported that the group is carrying out the gross act to promote a new meme coin called Green Dildo Coin (DILDO). A spokesperson for the group with the name @Daldo_Raine on social media, told the publication that the dildo prank at six different WNBA games since July 29 won't stop for now. The first incident happened on July 29 during the game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream. Since then, four more of the green sex toys have successfully made it to the court. On Tuesday, a person tried to throw a green dildo at the Liberty game at Barclays Center, but it fell short. Kaden Lopez, 18, was reportedly arrested for throwing a sex toy at Tuesday’s Mercury-Sun game, where he was with his nine-year-old niece. A man named Delbert Carver was taken into custody for flinging it for the very first time during the Valkyries-Dream game in Atlanta. According to text messages obtained by USA Today, the group coordinated plans to enter WNBA arenas with green sex toys to promote the DILDO coin. The spokesperson told the publication that they do not intend to harm anyone, but are simply trying to cause a disruption, which it says is common in sports. "We didn't do this because, like, we dislike women's sports or, like, some of the narratives that are trending right now are ridiculous," he said.
WNBA statement on sex toys on court

The group came up with this uniquely depraved idea of flinging sex toys because it knew it had to go viral with something, but it didn't want to pay the "influencer cabal, sacrifice our souls and the fate of the project, more or less." Their plan of action includes making it "lighter" and "more tasteful", and reaching other "high-traffic areas" besides WNBA. Meanwhile, the WNBA released a statement on the dildo incidents, stating, "The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans." It added, "Any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities."

While the crypto group might view it as light banter, the players and coaches are angry. It's stupid. It's also dangerous, and you know, player safety is No. 1, respecting the game, all those things. I think it's really stupid."

The 23-year-old has been charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure and criminal trespass. The group aims to counter the "toxic environment" in the crypto world with the meme coin. "Creating disruption at games is like, it happens in every single sport, right? We've seen it in the NFL, we've seen it in hockey, you know...fans doing random things to more or less create attention." Also Read: Ballon d'Or 2025: Who are the nominees?
AI coding startup Cognition, which bought Windsurf almost a month ago, has issued an ultimatum to the 200 people at the company, telling them either agree to working 80 hours a week, or take a buyout and quit now. The company is in no mood to play ball with the trend of work-life balance, admitting that it doesn't believe in the concept. Cognition had already removed 30 employees from the Windsurf team last week. The Information has gained access to an email sent to the remaining staff members, who must decide between working weekends and long hours or taking a buyout with a nine-month salary. They need to decide by August 10, as per the outlet. Cognition CEO Scott Wu wrote in an email, "We don't believe in work-life balance — building the future of software engineering is a mission we all care so deeply about that we couldn't possibly separate the two." Wu is extremely clear that at Cognition, work is the topmost priority, and everyone who joins the company is delivered the message loud and clear at the outset. Cognition also claims a breakthrough in AI, stating that it has built the first AI software engineer that can work independently and use Slack and GitHub to engage with users. The startup became a unicorn following a funding round earlier this year, which increased its valuation to $4 billion. Meanwhile, Windsurf went through turbulent times, as acquisition deals fell apart. First, it was in talks with OpenAI for a $3 billion acquisition. However, the deal didn't reach fruition, after which Google stepped in. It agreed to a $2.4 billion deal for nonexclusive licensing rights to Windsurf's technology. CEO Varun Mohan, co-founder Douglas Chen and a few others joined Google.

A woman put a two-year-old girl inside a suitcase and then casually placed it in the luggage area on a bus in New Zealand before taking a seat. The strange incident happened in a small town in the country on August 3 and came to light after the driver got suspicious about her when she insisted on going to the luggage section. After he raised the alarm, the police checked her bag and were shocked to discover the young girl in her bag. The incident happened in a small settlement in Kaiwaka. The bus made a planned halt at a bus stop. The woman asked the driver to let her access the luggage area. Something about her tipped him off, and he became suspicious. He then went to the luggage area and noticed movement in one of the bags. Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said in a statement that when the driver opened the bag, he found a young girl in it. She was "very hot" but otherwise did not appear to have sustained any physical problems. It was not revealed how long the girl was inside the bag, nor the details of the trip.
