<p>Kohli's lack of runs was talked about a lot and with the hundred&nbsp;he gave his critics a befitting reply. Talking to his RCB teammate and friend AB de Villiers, Kohli explained what that hundred meant to him.</p>

<p>“So, when I made the hundred and converted it into a big one, that gave me a sense of calmness, relaxation, and excitement again,” Kohli told ABD while speaking on the former South African’s YouTube channel.</p>

<p>“You kind of become comfortable with your game, and your thinking, and your heart is not rising before the next practice session. You eventually want to be in such a space. And that particular hundred gave me a grounded feeling back. Just from a cricketing perspective. In life, I was pretty happy and relaxed. But when playing also, you want to be in that space as much as possible,” he added.</p>

<p>Kohli also touched upon how much importance he gives to Test cricket and how it requires patience to score runs even on batting-friendly pitches.</p>

<p>“I and AB have been in touch for a while and he knows how much I value Test cricket. Even though, I had performed in T20Is again and scored ODI centuries and all that stuff, I always felt that white-ball cricket, for me, was more of a thing where if you go in with the right frame of mind on a particular day or for a certain period of time, you can get past the hurdles.</p>

<p>“But even though we played the Test on a wicket that is not offering too much to the bowlers, you still have to bat for good 7-8 hours sometimes, because they (Australia) are that patient with their fields and they could go defensive. It was just testing me constantly. That is something that I have always cherished as a cricketer.</p>

<p>Kohli, despite not getting hundreds in Test cricket since his century against Bangladesh in November 2019, was hitting runs and getting decent scores to his name. The dashing batter, however, said that he wasn't completely satisfied with the outcomes.</p>

<p>“I was getting decent scores, but if you ask me if I was happy with what I was doing. I wasn’t. I pride myself in performing for the team to the best of my ability, I certainly wasn’t doing that enough. I wanted to score big runs, that’s something that always propelled me, whether it was at home or away. I was doing that to a certain extent. But I was not having the same kind of impact that I had before,” he added.</p>

<p>Notably, Virat is currently second on the list most international hundreds with 75 to his name, and trails only Sachin Tendulkar who has 100 international hundreds to his name.</p>

Coming from a small family of farmers from Najafgarh I got the opportunity to play for India, got so much love and appreciation from fans and even if I would have captained Team India I would have gotten the same respect.”</p>

That is special from India," Hafeez said while speaking to Sports Tak on the sidelines of the Legends League Cricket.</p>

<p>"And when the tournaments happen in India, when big matches happen in India, in bilateral series, oppositions have very little chance. Their success rate is very high. But, when big tournaments come, I think India are lacking in just one aspect. In the recent past, in ICC events, they are not able to perform in the big matches.</p>

<p>"They have lost crunch matches, against England they lost the semi-final. In 2017, in the Champions Trophy final, they lost. Then also, they were favourites. This is a pinching point as far as India are concerned. India now have a point to prove to the world. They should come and perform well in ICC major events," Hafeez added.</p>

<p>India's last ICC title, in the senior men's category, came in 2013 during the Champions Trophy in England and Wales.</p>

<p>On Babar Azam-led Pakistan's chances, the 42-year-old Hafeez stated, "Pakistan also will have their chances. They have one of the most versatile and lethal bowling attacks in the world. If you look at the fast-bowlers, they are match-winners. If you look at Shaheen Afridi, if he is fit and firing, the entire world wants to watch him in action. When you talk about spin-bowling, there are Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz. There is a new young pace-bowling talent in Ihsanullah, he can also bowl in excess of 150 kph and hit the good areas.</p>

<p>"Pakistan playing in India have to also deal with pressure. Playing in India will mean a lot of pressure. A lot will depend on how much momentum Pakistan take into the World Cup and how the dressing room atmosphere is created to deal with pressure," he concluded.</p>

'India have a point to prove': Md Hafeez on Rohit Sharma & Co.'s chances at 2023 ODI World Cup

<p>Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has said that India's star batsman Virat Kohli isn't comfortable facing left-handers. Kohli, who scored his 28th Test ton in the fourth Test of the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy, could score only four runs in the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai.</p>

<p>Chasing a score of 189 in the last ODI, Kohli came in to bat at number three and was trapped LBW by Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc with a full and in-swinging delivery. Kohli, in the past as well, has been troubled by left-handed bowlers like Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammed Amir and New Zealander Trent Boult as well.</p>

<p>Kaneria, in the video, also suggested a solution for Kohli to prepare better to face Starc in the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be held in England in June.</p>

<p>"Virat Kohli isn't comfortable against left-arm pacers when the ball nips back. He will have to practice to face Mitchell Starc in the World Test Championship final. The team management should bring in left-arm pacers like T Natarajan as net bowlers," said Kaneria.</p>

<p>After the WTC final, India's next big task will be the ICC ODI World Cup at home later this year. Kohli, who is considered as one of the modern greats of the white-ball cricket, will have a plenty of time to work on the issues before that.</p>

<p>The 34-year-old batsman is also nearing one of the most colossal records in the One Day Internationals as he chases former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 hundreds in 50-over matches.</p>

<p>Kohli, currently sitting second on the list with 46 ODI centuries, is mostly-likely to surpass Tendulkar record with ease. Apart from that, Kohli is also second on the list of most centuries in international cricket with 75 tons to his name. The list is led by Sachin Tendulkar only with 100 international centuries —&nbsp;51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs. Kohli, meanwhile, has 28 tons in Tests, 46 100s in ODIs and one century in T20Is.<br />

"So, if there is a World Cup coming of 50-over cricket coming, emphasis must be on 50-over cricket. If the emphasis on T20s, then decide who your nucleus of 15-18 players are," the former coach added.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Rohit and Virat are currently involved in the white-ball series against Australia and will feature in the IPL 2023 after this. So, I told him you will have to train like an Olympic athlete and I used to quote Novak Djokovic to him then. I am not tired of telling this but I have never ever seen a guy like Virat Kohli. He can do the simple, most boring things of life every day and it does not matter whether he is performing or not (on the field). But that zeal and extraordinary passion towards excellence is mind boggling. It helped me put across my syllabus to him,” said Basu.</p>

So, I told him we will make a template for you and I will have to make drastic changes to the training that you are doing now. He asked a lot of technical questions and after several conversations back and forth, he said: ‘Ok let’s start,’ told Basu.</p>

<p>Kohli's next task will be the ODI series against touring Australia which starts on March 17 in Mumbai. The next two matches of the three-match series will be played on March 19 and 22 in Vishakhapatnam and Chennai, respectively.</p>

<p>Australia, on the other hand, will be without their regular captain Pat Cummins after he decided to stay home following his mother's death last week. Cummins, who was part of the Test squad, left for home after the second Test of the four-match series.</p>

<p>Steve Smith will be leading the side in Cummins' absence as he did in the last two Tests of the series.</p>

When it comes together, like it did in this game, that gives you an extra gust of air to go beyond, go further and start enjoying cricket a lot more and be excited for what's to come.
